Does anyone know why some 987.2 Spyders have "Boxster Spyder" insignias on the rear deck versus just "Spyder"? Is it a model year designation difference? My inbound 2012 is missing the emblem, and have both on order. Will install both unless "Spyder" only is more correct. Danke!

Some owners took the matter into their own hands by removing the “Boxster” script and then centering the “Spyder” script. I nearly bought a 2012 that had this owner mod.
I saw a black Spyder this morning out at Geddes and Dixboro roads near Ann Arbor. Anyone here? It looked great with just the sunshade up. Thinking about it, this might be the first one I've actually seen in person!
Recently moved from Seattle down to the Portland area and have been loving the local roads - perfect Spyder territory. This car brings a smile to my face every time I get behind the wheel. Installed Cantrell lowering brackets to the driver seat (for buckets) and have been loving the slightly lower driving position. Toying with the idea of switching the short shift kit out for a GT3 shifter as I don't like how the 3rd to 2nd shift feels on the SSK. Will probably hit 40K miles before the end of the year.
Momentarily assembled my dream garage! Unfortunately, I was only storing the RS temporarily for a friend, but maybe one day...

It's definitely a clean look. Since my car is black, the insignia's wouldn't be very noticeable unless I spray them silver gray to match the stripes. Easy to do while still unmounted.
The other day I was on the phone speaking with my sales guy at my Porsche dealership about a 718 CGTS 4.0 and I saw a 981 Spyder on the road (in NJ) ahead of me, which is almost as rare as me speaking with my P sales guy. But it was pretty cool to share the news.
Drove about 200 miles today mostly in the hills above Malibu. Watched my odometer roll past 12,000 miles. Condolences to those of you putting your cars away for the winter.
Almost 7 years after starting this thread, an old pic of my spyder popped up on google photos.. all the different ways I was experimenting with details. As the wait for the RS gets shorter, and having gone through a few Porsche since then.. this still feels like the one I regret selling.
