Boxster Spyder - one of the greatest cars ever?

I traded my 2008 Cayman S for a 2011 Spyder just 3 weeks ago. All I can say is WOW! The Spyder is a lot more car than the old Cayman. Quicker, more responsive and just puts a big grin on the face every time I take it out.

I have had my Spyder over 1.5 years and put 8000 plus totally enjoyable miles on it. It handles like a slot car, is a comfortable cruiser and ample room for trips. As well as it handles I periodically will change the wheels and tires to lightweight Champion forged wheels and Mich. cup tires and WOW a whole new world. Porsche provided us with a real winner and keeper in this little gem.

Of note Porsche first used the PDK concept in the 962 race car in the early '80's . The PDK equipped 962 not only won LeMans but recorded the fastest time down the old Mulsane (sp) straight. A fantastic transmission mated to some rather outstanding vehicles

35k miles on my Spyder and as most mention, sometimes I entertain the idea of swapping or trading for something else, but one thing remains the same, every time I drive it, it always makes me rethink that idea. It really is a special car!

Just went to the garage to make sure it was still there and It still gave me wood after 2 years and I didn't even drive it. My 996 never did that but I must say that my 88 911 did.

I love mine too. The entire car is a piece of designed art work.
Fabric Top up with the rear twin-pontoons and fabric looks like a sailboat and vintage car all in one. Such a sexy car from every angle. It's great that Porsche spent the time to make something unque.
Porsche should make a GT3 engined 991 Spyder for $160,000 or less and that would be very cool too. Light open simple sexy and fast.......

I'm thinking seriously of getting a 2014 981 Base 2.7 Cayman with PDK. I know it is a completely different car than your 987. Anything in particular you did not like about your 2008 Cayman?

I Agree. The Spyder is an awesome car all around.....and after selling my 2011 to get my 2012 Cayman R (which is also love) i told myself that a Spyder WILL be in my garage again someday.....
