I've now got over 27k trouble free miles on my Spyder and I am still just lovin' it. Best car I have ever owned, period.

Beautiful. Thanks for the pics.
Your pics made me think of something. From what I understand, Spyder wings are fixed in position. So why is there a raise-spoiler button on the dash?
BTW, I think you need to clean the driver side window..

Awesome pictures! While I don't have as many miles (4700) I agree 110% that it is the best car I've owned. 30 minutes in the Spyder feels like I went for a swim on a beautiful beach on a hot summer day. Refreshing, relaxing and exhilarating.
I have had only one issue to date which was taken care of by the dealer without any questions or hassles. The engine purrs and doesn't burn any measurable amount of oil.
I believe the raised spoiler button was on a few of the earlier cars and was removed a few months into production. Mine was built in February 2011 and doesn't have the button.

OK, now I'm confused (not hard to do)... most of the Spyders on autotrader seem to have the button for raising the spoiler. Was this a feature on 2011 model but eliminated in 2012? Hmm.......

On my 2011 Spyder the Spoiler is fixed, the button is useless. I have no idea why Porsche installed the Spoiler button on the car.

I did a quick search to see when Porsche finally eliminated the button, unfortunately I wasn't able to find it. Here is a link to thread started on the button subject: https://rennlist.com/forums/987-foru...er-spyder.html

Let's face it, any car enthusiast will love the Spyder. The only reason that I don't own one is the top. I completely understand Porsche's desire to eliminate as much weight as possible, but in my case the need for an automatted top along with a glass window is important. So I'll go for another option, 2013 Boxster S, which is as close to the ideal car as I could get. I just wish that Porsche offered an enhanced sports version of the Boxster S as BMW does with its 3 series, I think they call it the M option.

I wouldn't be surprised if Porsche offers a 981 Spyder which has the auto top. To reduce weight they will keep the Radio and A/C as options, add Sport Buckets and Lightweight Wheels. Overall it will be similar to what they did to the Cayman R although without any changes to the doors/hood since these are already aluminum. Weight won't be reduced significantly since most will option the Radio and A/C back into the car. Hopefully they will offer more HP to compensate!
