Default :: ECS Tuning :: New Sport Springs for 987 Spyder

Sport Springs are H&R's biggest sellers. Like similar products from other suppliers, they reduce fender gap, lower the center of gravity, and give your car a more aerodynamic, muscular look.

It's what you don't see that matters most when you choose H&R. Their springs are designed for your vehicle; no one-size-fits-all approach here. Spring rates are matched to your car to provide improved handling, while maintaining a sporty, but comfortable ride quality that you can live with. Lower your car, and lower your lap times with new springs from H&R!

I was wondering the same thing. My understanding is that the factory spent a considerable amount of time engineering the suspension to work as a package, and from most accounts, they nailed it. I am not saying H&R didn't understand this, but I am wondering what aspect of handling they are addessing and how well it fits in with the other components. Are they targeting the guys that are tracking their cars?

I already scrape the front spoiler quite a bit on driveway entrances. Why would anyone want the Spyder to be lower.

The suspension is perfect IMO, why would I want to screw it up???

LOL. The natives are restless. Some people may be looking for that 'herra frush' look?

Hmm., what are the spring rates relative to stock? Are they linear or progressive rate springs?

These H&R sport springs are progressive rate. Unfortunately, H&R does not release the spring rates of their sport spring lines, but they are generally a few percentage points stiffer.

These springs are engineered specifically with the Spyder in mind, and I've been told they pair quite well with their sport sway bars.

Clearly, you need to find a new driveway to park in. Why would anyone have a driveway they couldn't park a Spyder in?

In all fairness, I think these springs are for those wanting to lower the Spyder a bit further and to have less body roll in the corners at the track.

20 mm = 0.79". My Boxster S is lowered 1.4" and 1.2" (I think) and there are many CR's with coilovers going lower and stiffer at the track.

I'm already thinking of these springs (vs. coilovers) even though I'm still looking for a Spyder...

ECS, how do H&R sway bars compare to the stock Spyder ones? Or for that matter, how do 2005-08 Boxster S H&R sway bars compare to stock Spyder's, i.e. can you use those in a Spyder and feel a noticeable difference? I'm thinking about H&R vs. Tarret vs. TPC vs. etc. Once I get a Spyder, I think I'll do a few events with stock suspension then decide how much lower or stiffer I want to go... if I do go with H&R's, I'll report back here with my impressions.

Joe, I don't know about the GT-R but the guy in the red Evo definitely looks like an a-hole.

I don't know if I would call the Spyder's suspension "Perfect".

The Spyder got a slightly stiffer version of the front sway bar than the standard Boxster, though it is exactly the same unit that came on Boxster and Boxster S models equipped with PASM. The fact that both versions of Boxster front bar use the same mounting hardware and bushings indicates that they are interchangeable. 99734370107 is used on standard cars. 99734370108 is the number used on PASM cars and Boxster Spyders.

The Spyder, the S, and the base Boxster all use the same rear sway bars.

H&R provides a stiffer front AND rear bar, with H&R's rear bar being a two-way adjustable piece.

All bars are interchangeable with 987.1 and 987.2 models.
