Guess who is back for sale again? The One & Only MY2011 PTS Spyder for the USA!
It is the MY2011 Meteor Grey Metallic/Carrera Red leather interior Spyder. It was one of the PCNA's Detroit Car Show cars. It is Vin # WP0CB2A85BS745650 and now has 5,216 miles. It is being sold now by dealer in San Antonio, Texas. It was first sold to the public six months ago by a Porsche dealer in Illinois.

History: After its brief Detroit Car Show appearance in January of 2011, it led a pretty active life as a 'working girl' in the Porsche World Roadshow. This was the 'driving experience' sponsored by PCNA in conjuction with regional P-dealers at local venues around the country. I, along with hundreds of others prospective Porsche clients, drove it pretty hard at the Candlestick parking lot in May, 2011! It eventually earned 2900 miles on its odo doing this kind of heavy lifting! It also showed up for display at the 2011 PCA Parade in Georgia and back as test driver at The Quail in Carmel during the Historics in August. One of its last driving experience adventure was in the midwest in September!
In October, it was released from the PCNA car pool and refurbished for its eventual sale to the public. PCNA replaced seat covers, installed a new steering wheel & convertible top and a did a few other cosmetics touches to the car. However, someone I know had it inspected and they reported back quite a few stone chips on the paint - evidence of 'hard use'! This is not surprising given its role earlier in the year! PCNA ultimately placed it with the Porsche Exchange dealer in Illinois (probably as a result on an internal auction). It had 2900 miles when it got there and was eventually sold to the public in November, 2011. We discussed this Spyder on this Rennlist forum when it came up for sale late last Fall. https://rennlist.com/forums/987-foru...-for-sale.html
Still, it is the only PTS Spyder built for the US market in MY2011! Only three others were built in MY2012 for this market - a Riviera Blue, an Azure Blue and a Speed Yellow! It is also the only PDK of the four!

Hi guys. w00t your secret admirer checking in. The savvy buyers understand the value and special nature of a spyder. Well for the rest of those out there looking for a bargain ... I say they don't deserve to buy this car or in other words the car should not be sold to such folks.

Woot - I share your affinity for Porsches, and the Spyder is high on my list... If my wife did not like Land Rovers so much, I would own a Cayenne as well... For my next DD, it is down to either a 997.1 GT3 or a Spyder. My problem is that I live in snow country (350+ inches annually), but have successfully been able to drive a 997.1 S Cab as a DD for the last year.... I have yet to drive a Spyder, but based on Rennlist posts KNOW that it is my type of Porsche...
To the OP - thanks for posting this thread. I am surprised that there have been so few PTS cars stateside... The Spyder is the perfect platform IMHO for customization...

OMG Blake you are just my kinda guy. We really need to connect through PM. Not a day goes by without me wanting a GT3RS or a spyder, my family loves the cayenne (what a SUV BTW) and I DD my C4S every single day and travel over Snoqualmie pass every week (hence C2S not an option as they often have restrictions like all vehicles except AWD need chains). So we have some similarities my friend. The problem is that my 3.2 serves as my GT3 at 1/6th the cost of admission to a GT3 ... I can't justify giving away my C4S which has everything one would want in a DD. The spyder or GT3 would not work as a DD for me (something where I differ from your situation ) as when I park my C4S in the doctors parking lot as it is I get a lot of unwanted attention and you can just imagine what a spyder (that too a aqua/red) or a GT3RS (grey with red wheels) would do !!!
So the C4S stays unless I can "live with" the cayenne for 6 months a year as a DD and can I really do justice for a 4th Porsche and a 5th car (my wife has a gorgeous MINI sidewalk convertible). The c4S is my first 911 and that in itself has a special significance to it

^ both of you guys need to just do it
come on, break down and get a Spyder
one move you'll not regret
if you don't hurry, I might just buy all the used ones
there's one new one (Basalt Black) in Mobile, Al, at least according to the dealer website (but who knows if it's updated)

I agree, if the means exist or if you can make it work financially you won't regret the purchase.
By the way Basalt is an incredible color for the Spyder, it really highlights the curves on the car and changes color depending on the light.
By the way, I get the feeling we all have a few things in common as far as the types of cars we like. I'm still debating what my next addition to the stable will be, right now it is between the Grey GT3 RS with Red Wheels/Trim or a Beck Spyder with Metallic Grey Paint and Dark Red Leather Interior. Unfortunately it will be a while before I can buy another car so I have plenty of time to decide.

Afshin,
I'm with you..
either a Cayman R (getting less likely as each day passes)
or a 981 Boxster
or a 981 Cayman
like the Amaranth Red metallic but it's disappeared from the car configurator
and I really want to get a PTS Riviera Blue, probably espresso full leather interior
think the new Boxster would look good in Riviera with a blue top
