If I were to get a Spyder, I'd most definitely get the wheels black with the silver pinstripe and ensure I paint the lower front valence to make it look visually lower. Nice.

Nice pictures! I'm a little surprised to see so many Spyders without the bi-xenon option. For folks without the bi-xenon option, do/did you have another car with xenon option and how does the halogen light output fair?
I found a spyder I may consider upgrading to (from my '08 B-S). My car has bi-xenon,.. wondering if I would be disappointed "downgrading" to a car without bi-xenon. Thanks!

I have cars with both, and personally, I don't see any real benefit with xenons. The light may be brighter, but the cutoff is more severe. I'll admit that I bought into the 'cool' factor 10+ years ago, but that is long gone.

Porsche halogens are better than average. Xenons are slightly heavier, and obviously more expensive. And IMO the chrome headlight washers that come with Porsche xenons are a design nightmare - adding the painted option helps somewhat, but increases the cost further.

I'm very happy with my halogens and the color is not the typical yellow, it has a blue hue to it. I do think I have a problem with my passenger side light being pointed downward which is causing reduced light on that side. The inner light is clearly pointed down but I haven't had the time to look at other halogens to compare. I'm not sure why I didn't catch this earlier.

I chose the halogens for two main reasons, lighter and less complicated (easier long term maintenance). If I had to do it all over again I would still pick the halogens.

Easier long term maintenance? Doesn't the xenon bulb last 2x-3x longer than halogen? My old S2000's xenon bulb was never replaced in the 7 years I owned it.

The last car I had that had halogens was my 1997 Saturn SL2 that I had in college. I couldn't fathom spending $70k+ on a car and it not having xenons, even in the minimalist Spyder

I think I've driven my car in the dark twice since I've owned it, so it's not an issue for me. Xenons do look nicer, though.

Well I'm not sure I would consider a halogen unreliable. For reference my last and current Honda's haven't needed a bulb changed in the 7 years we owned the cars. I was also under the impression that Xenons are extremely costly to replace once blown and the support mechanism which allows the light to move would need additional maintenance in the long run....but I'm not speaking from experience so I could definitely be wrong.

Either way I think it is great that Porsche allows us to configure the cars the way we want (except for PTS).

I got Halogens too. Very bright. I don't drive that much at night or in the rain. It's simply my toy.
