GT2 RS carbon hood and mirrors on Spyder...
#2
I think it looks best with black wheels to match. Is very much a race car look. But I think a lot of us prefer the stock modern vintage look.
And if the Spyder becomes a classic/collectable item, I think the original hood is actually more desirable. And there will be Porsche buyers that will give you grief about the hood taken on and off. When I was looking at mid to late 90's 911 and 928, one of the things I checked was the nuts holding the hood, doors and trunk, etc. Is just part of the things you check, along with weather strips, panel gaps, etc.
So, I think the carbon hood looks cool. Real cool in fact. I think for someone to make that mod, he best love it a 100% and won't look back.

Alot depends on the color of the car & the "theme" you are going for.

IMHO, makes zero sense to spend 6-7K for the CF RS bits, save the money and just get a CF wrap instead.
There is a Spyder in SoCal that has a CF front hood, you can find pictures of it over at 6speedonline, teamspeed planet-9.

As others have stated, the CF hood looks ok for a track car, but does not make any sense for a street car, why ruin the excellent looks of the Spyder?

IMHO,
I wouldn't do it. Keep it stock.

Just curious, how much weight do you save with a Carbon Fiber Hood?
My suggestion, have the hood wrapped with a carbon fiber wrap and buy yourself a lightweight battery. You'll lose some weight and keep the car stock while giving it a custom look. Best of both worlds IMHO.

Good suggestion by Marine Blue. Here is an example of an excellent quality carbon fiber wrap. Take notice how the fiber pattern lines up in the body panel seams:

Carbon wrap is the lamest thing in the world. I say go for it! Who cares what "collectors" think, it's your car, do what you want with it!
Personally, I kinda just want to buy a GT2 RS hood just to put it on the wall of my garage! I think it would look sick on a Boxster Spyder sitting on the floor of my garage also! White Spyder with carbon accents and black center lock wheels. That would be awesome!

I kinda like the carbon trunk switch cover, bottom mirror accent, and carbon rear diffuser. Is that too much, too little, just right?
Just want to hear Spyder owners POV. I know some will say "do whatever, as long as you like it" but since the Spyder does get a more than usual amount of attention in the looks department, i think is fair to discuss judgement passed on visual modifications.

I think adding carbon on the bottom of the mirror and the rear diffuser will be subtle and sporty.
The crazy thing about the Spyder is that there really isn't much that is worth changing. Porsche did such a nice job with the changes especially on the exterior. The only thing that really bothers me about the Spyder are the crappy lug nuts.
