2012 Boxster Spyder confirmed
Just spoke to the local Porsche dealer and was told that the Spyder will be produced in 2012. They have not yet received an allocation but they thought there would be very limited numbers available.

Big difference between model year 2012 production, and being produced in 2012.
A small allocation of model year 2012 cars had been confirmed previously, but it seems very doubtful that the production run will stretch into calendar year 2012.

I was told that May, June and July allocations/productions, and that is all. My guess is that the all new Boxster will be a 2013 MY with launch date in 2012. But it will not surprise me if Porsche does the lame duck product rollout like the 997 C2/C2S & 996 C4S/turbo back in 2005.

My dealer just got one in, per them, the last one they will get. They ended up with a total of 4 allocations. Three were ordered and delivered a year ago and this one they have had for a few weeks. I can't believe I have had my Spyder a year.

That is a late production MY2011. The '12s have not arrived in US yet. And I am told very few were allocated for US (perhaps less than 50). My dealer said he only saw 44 in-coming in his PCNA computers a few weeks ago. But he could be wrong. Does anyone here has access to more finite information on total MY2012 Spyder allocation (hence production) for US ? z356 (presently in England)

Yes, MY2012 Spyders!
That is precisely what the OP, Clinton, Cayman & others are talking about. No one has yet confirmed exact date when MY'11 ended and MY'12 started. But some think it was in May. Certainly June and July will be MY2012's. And we are almost sure Spyder production will end - perhaps forever- in July!
I have a confirmed (by PCNA & PAG) late June production, so this is not speculation. My understanding is that the last batch of cars built will be those few Paint-to-Sample Spyders approved during short window between March 18th & March 25th. I know of only one such PTS Spyder- a Speed Yellow one by a fellow RLister.
The question now is how much longer will Cayman R production (only MY'12 in first place) last. We know early cars were built in Finland but Valmet production has recently ended and construction has apparently shifted to Zuffenhausen. Future platform Boxster / Cayman is scheduled to be built at VW's Karmann coach builders and Zuffenhausen will switch to 991 production in the coming months.

Because the 981/991 will be MY2013, and will not likely be in dealerships until sometime next year. A short run of MY2012 Boxsters, Caymen, and 911s will fill the gap until inventory of the next generation becomes available.

Clinton I'm going to the dealer tomorrow to schedule an oil change, I'll ask Jeff about your car.
From what I've heard Porsche made the switch to 2012 in late April or early May. I know my February build Spyder was in the last 2011 batch before the switch. Personally I could care less what year I have as long as I have it in the configuration I wanted. Glad I was able to find one when I did.

So Clinton will surely get a '12. But some of the Spyders arriving recently at West Coast dealers -the one at Niello reported by pcw and one I saw in Monterey - were MY2011. So these ones just missed the change-over deadline in April as '12's and became last of the '11's. z356 (looking at an unusual sunny day in Southern England)
