Default where are the lightly-optioned spyders?

I'm in the market for one. I have really simple tastes. I'd go for PSE, alcantara, black wheels...but could go without any of them. every car I see for sale has stereo, AC, etc, etc...

it's kinda surprising.

oh, and I'd definitely go for a cream white but haven't seen anyone with one...

Same phenomenon as with the GT3 and GT3RS...dealers load up cars with options to maximize profit, even though these models were designed for enthusiasts that generally don't want all that stuff on them. So they sit on the lot...

I saw a basic Spyder a few weeks ago at one of the SoCal dealerships. I don't remember if it was Pacific Porsche, McKenna, or maybe Pioneer. This car had no a/c or radio.

"where are the lightly-optioned spyders?"

Great damn question. Sadly, I have to agree with Alan. When will they ever smarten up?

Yeah, Alan pretty much has it nailed.
I'm just glad I have one! Only big options I got were Xenons and Full Leather and that's it. Wish I had ticked the PSE though.

I have to admit, I plan on buying one that has A/C and Radio. The weight added can always be negated by losing a few pounds around the waist and also buying a lightweight battery at a later date.

It may also depend a bit on where you live. I think dealers in Europe might be more willing order a car thats lighter on options or car without AC or stereo.

Most dealers in the USA know the bulk of their customers want cars with AC.
They are probably very reluctant to order a car without AC for fear they would be stuck with it. There maybe some guys that are going to track these cars and they don't want AC or stereo etc., but lots of these cars are going to find homes with people that will just use them for fun on the street.

I have rarely used the AC in my own Boxster and my wife prefers to have the PSE on than listen to the stereo. That being said, if I were ordering a Spyder I would definitely order it with AC, stereo, PSE, bi-xenons and probably some other things that would eliminate the 170 lb savings in weight.
