Wink Spyder Sports Exhaust

When I bought my Spyder i didn't think that I wanted the Sport Exhaust... but i very quickly realized it was a big mistake!
I bought a PSE from Carnewal with a switch that is tucked in to the center console and can turn the Exhaust on and off as I please - instead of letting the sport button decide if I want it or not. I could not be happier for the sound (thanks Larry for installing it for me while I was out) and really think that people should think about installing it after getting the car instead of ordering it with the car.
As I understand it, the Sport button only allows the PSE to get on after 50 mph (not sure this is right so if you have one installed please comment) and I find it GREAT to have it on or off at any speed I like. I did a 200 miles "giant slalom" a few days ago and it was absolutely awesome...
Just thought I would share with you all as if it is correct, you may want to do it after you get the car, with the switch

I thought they all come with the switch? I did the same as you. Thought I didn't need the PSE, but have ordered it after the car has been built, and will be fitted soon! Tbh though, the stock sound isn't that bad because of the fact that the roof is so thin.

I'm doing the same once I get some surplus funds. The standard exhaust is too quiet. Good thing is I'll keep the standard black exhaust tips to hide the soot. I them prefer them over the chrome PSE tips.

PSE is just a button and the exhaust noise is noticeably different even at idle. The Spyder I test drove had it and the sales guy made a point to turn it on and off when pulling into the showroom. We also turned it on/off while out drive. Definitely a must have item and I'm really glad that it can be fitted after the fact just in case I get stuck with one that doesn't have it.

How much was it after installation?

Suncoast sell them for $2095
http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...de=9872exhaust

Installation I hear is pricey though... I can't remember the exact price but I think it was $700-800... Due to all the wiring for the button.

I am looking for a header now that I have the PSE. What options do I have? Doesn't seem to be too many options.

I was thinking Tubi or Remus before I bought the PSE but my car is a PDK and I was worried about the resonance that most after market units have so i went oem

I believe (but I don't know for fact) that when you press the PSE button, it is not on between 30 and 50 mph which was the point I was trying to make. If you retrofit it, you don't have that restriction

I was told factory order or later install of pse and switch work the same and the cutoff is similar. Pse bypass mod I believe is the only way to have pse on all the time but then u lose the ability to turn the sport exhaust on or off

I also think the PSE is a MUST. It's supposed to cut off and get quiet between 20-40 mph but I honestly can't tell that it gets quieter. Not like the PSE in my 997- that was a dramatic difference and I had a switch put in the console to keep it from cutting off. A vacuum piece can be removed that keeps it on all the time but then the wifey can hear me sneaking in late after a night with the boys. I was going to ask to have the vacuum plug removed but too much had to be taken off to get to the engine (foam top holder, etc.). I'm glad I left it stock since it is nice to make quiet on rare occasions. I just wish the default was Sport On, PSE On when the car was started.

+1 for the PSE, it's intoxicating.

It's a bit of a pain because you have to get to the top of the motor, and take some of the interior apart to wire the button. About 5 hours is right for a Spyder after you have done one, and a few more for a regular 987 because of the added time of removing the top.
