Factory Collection Program - Boxster Spyder
Hi guys. I placed my order in for a Boxster Spyder a few months ago and I finally got a confirmation on the production date!
I have the option to pick up the car directly from Germany and drive it around for 9 days before sending it back to Hong Kong. I am very excited about this but the cost is high (7,500USD all-in excluding gas). That means I am expecting close to 10,000 USD with all airfares, hotels, gas, and everything included.
My question is if the factory collection program, autobahn, nurburgring (yes I must at least drove around it ONCE), and a road trip to Italy worth 10,000USD. Money is an object to me but I can part with 10k if its all worth it.
Thanks!

Sounds like a question only you could answer.
If you want to break down the math, do a google search on luxury car rentals in Europe that rent to foreigners and price out a Boxster S (and include insurance in your price).
The difference is how much the "memories" are worth to you.
Given that you live in HK, this factory pickup might be the only time you ever get to drive it fast....

Not to be an *** but do a search for the topic in the 'Search' tool bar. This very topic has been discussed heavily by some very die hard guys who, to me at least, went all out to make this the ultimate automotive experience. To them it was more than worthwhile but if you are concerned about funds maybe it's not the right choice?
In any regards I'd recommend it...but my factory delivery was done a bit different than most others.

I did the Euro Delivery in 2006 for my Carrera S Cabriolet. Loved it. I wrote a story about it in the PCA magazine, in Feb 08. See: http://coochas.com/porsche/Resources...roDelivery.pdf
