I made an upgrade today on my new to me Spyder. The car has a lot of sorting to do to get it to my level of liking, but it should be a fun project. Here is the PDK shifter modified with all factory manual bits to accept a custom gear selector. The shift boot is from the exact same year 997 Turbo S, so the leather and stitching is a dead nuts match. It functions beautifully and I’m very happy with the change. Yes I know there’s a tiny bit of crud underneath the silver trim I missed before taking the photo, I cleaned it right away! Lol.

Looks fantastic. By coincidence I'm just about to undertake the same tranisition with my 997.2 PDK, to give it the 'faux manual' look.
Can you offer me some insight/help, into how you removed the part highlightedwith the yellow circle around it. How do I remove this plastic 'collar' without damaging the collar, the leather and the manual gearshift?

The boot that I purchased already had the shift **** removed, so I never had to mess with that collar, however if I remember correctly, it functions similarly to the PDK ****. The collar is grasped and turned slightly about a half turn to release. When I did my PDK ****, I just used a cloth and some channel locks and gently twisted it. It may be the same with the regular ****.
Thanks, I assumed it would be something simple, and as you suggest the plastic collar does rotate. But before I attempted to remove it, I thought I might check with someone that may already have gone throug the process.
Looking at the quality of your 'faux manual' gearshift I'm guessing you will have had it made by the same person that made mine, Manuel?
