Well everyone, I'm STOKED to announce the arrival of my new-to-me Gen-1 Spyder, No. 3! I've been pretty quiet about it, only hinting subtley, and working with the now previous excellent owner / Rennlister to make it all happen. And happed it did. It arrived at the dealership this last Monday.
It's still in the shop to have some maintenance done, a fresh set of PS2s, shifter cables and side markers installed. But it's super nice and I am soooo happy to back in a Gen-1 after a couple newer Porsches (Carrera T and 718 Spyder) and my bat-s#it crazy 997.2 GT3 RS.

Congrats Joel! She’s a beauty and glad it is FINALLY in your hands!
Looking forward to hearing about the upcoming Spyder escapades. Fortunately you have about two months of good driving left, plenty of time to put some miles on her.
Congrats! The Black/red combo is a big winner in my book. I'm not crazy about the weight gain with the wheels, but they do look good. If you sell this car, it's strike three and you are OUT!

Haha! "3 time's the charm!"
Say, does anyone know the weight difference between that of the Spyder wheels vs. these 911 Turbo II's?
Personally, I LOVE the look of these Turbo II's on this black car. Others I've found out have an alternate opinion! I don't care!

I have factory Carrera Sports on my Spyder and it looks like they are cumulatively only 5.4kg more than the Spyder wheels. I’m not sure about the OP’s Turbo II’s though.
Here's from an old post for 997 Turbo 19" wheel weight. Notice the wheel width for the 911 Turbo:
Forged Turbo Wheels - 102 lbs, 12 ozs.
8.5x19" 23 lbs. 8 oz
11x19" 27 lbs. 14 oz.
I have no idea how much less the 987 versions are. The stock Spyder wheels are 9.7kg, 21.1 pounds front (8.5" width) and 10.6kg, 23.2 pounds (10") rear. Looks like 2 pounds or so per wheel, not a deal breaker, IMO.

Yes - here's what I've got showing roughly a 10.6 pound difference. Whoop dee doo, Basil, right?
What a beauty!! I really love the look of the Turbo II wheels. It sits so nice in the wheel well.
I agree 100%! They're very unusual and I think they fit a black Spyder perfectly. As discussed there's a slight weight gain with them but eaily offset with knocking off the drivers donuts, right?
As far as I an see from the Spyder Online Spreadsheet this combination - Blk over Carrera Red/Alcantara / MT / LWBS / 911 Turbo II Wheels is the ONLY in NA (which IMO is kind of cool!).
