Could you share what happened to the PDK to warrant replacement? I’m curious as my buddy recently bought a higher mileage PDK Spyder

Not to take this For sale ad off topic but in case a buyer asks………despite what people think they do fail. I am aware of three 9x7 series pdks in our own regional PCA failed around 50k the past several years. Porsche wont repair and in my experience has limited ability to diagnose internal issues. So they replace. I believe now some Indy shops are doing more.

Porsche won't repair a PDK and will recommend replacement at about $20-25k BUT they can usually be repaired for $2-4k and it's usually the valve body that goes bad. This is a well understood repair at this point. BGB pioneered PDK repair through their race program more than a decade ago, but it's become quite common for independent shops to do this. I know of 4-5 shops in just the Houston area that will repair them. I'm sure there's one within a few hours or less for most people.

I believe that these are the PDK issues under discussion (the following thread describes 1st gen PDK issues in comprehensive, full color detail - worth the sticky that is already there on the mother admin thread ):

This is not a new issue - that thread is from Dec 2019. Porsche dealerships will do the repair (assuming that they have the technical expertise). The previous owner of my ABM Spyder had this PDK temp sensor and valve body repair procedure performed by Porsche Bellevue while the car was still under its CPO warranty. And that was way back in July of 2015. Of course, at an independent, you will avoid the dreaded P-tax.
