Default Complete 987.2 Spyder database

Thank you to @JSF101 for providing the complete 987.2 Spyder breakdown by VIN.

I've been kicking around the idea of buying a 987.2 Spyder and wanted a way to view the available car options in an easily sortable format. Luckily, I stumbled upon the FAQ thread with @JSF101 VIN breakdown and what started out as how can I view the options breakdown turned into a full blown database compilation. It took my a while to enter all of the data and originally I wasn't planning on sharing it but after all of the work I put into it, I figured maybe somebody else will get something out of the already complied data so why not.

Unfortunately, I am not granting editing access as I did that with my other shared databases and unfortunately, someone erased all of the data so it's view only for you. If you view the database and would like me to link pictures/threads to your specific VIN, please post it in this thread or PM me and I'll be sure to add it.

Right now, I'm sorting the database by color, 2011/2012, USA/Canada, and Price.

Here is the link for you if you're interested. 987.2 complete Spyder database

Nice work!

@halfmonkey I have a question in relation to mine, VIN WP0CB2A80BS745264. Is option code 388 Standard Sport Bucket Seats the same as "LWBs"? Or is it for something else? The listing for my car doesn't appear to notate that it's an LWB car and only a very few have the 388 code listed.

My understanding was that the LWBs were the standard seat on the Spyder, hence such a car would not have any seat option code under the options category of the build sheet (since it was not an “option”). The sofa seats were indeed an option and would appear as P77 Sports Seats in Leather. The 388 code seems to be that for Foldable Bucket Seat that appears across a range of Porsche models (911, Cayman, etc.). Not sure what it means for the Spyder?

And to add to the seat confusion, for MY2012 additional seat option codes started to appear on the build sheets: 375 Manual Sport Seat (left) and 376 Manual Sport Seat (right). This is redundant with the good old option P77 Sport Seats in Leather. Or maybe Porsche was saying you could (theoretically) get your Spyder with a LWB for the driver (by default) and get a sofa seat for the passenger by specifying Option 376 alone. Strange. Have only seen Options 375 & 376 together on the 2012s.

Yeah they were standard so it’s odd to me that a few listed have the 388 code.

Many thanks for putting this together from @JSF101's files. This is really cool, and as mentioned by a few very confusing when it comes to LWB seats. I think part of the confusion stems from Vinanalytics providing the 388 option but the @JSF101 files doesn't have it, yet they do show the P77 code.

You're welcome. It took quite a bit of time but it's a fun exercise to have a more centralized visual breakdown of the builds that can be sorted.

Yes, some of the options are a little confusing as has been mentioned. Another example is the Bi-Xenon option. There's the option labeled as Bi-Xenon w/ Dynamic Cornering System, P74 and then there's also Bi-Xenon w/ Dynamic Cornering System, 603. Same description but different option codes. Don't know what to make of it so I just recorded them as they were reported on the VIN breakdown. At first, I wondered if maybe the cars were built in two different factories and each factory, for whatever reason, had their own code for that particular option. I don't know the answer to that and I'm not one that knows all of the little super small details to know if there were even two different factories building the Spyders so at the end of the day, I just recorded the data as it was presented and figured someone with more knowledge would correct me or clarify if needed.

The Pxx option code is for a packaged option (“P” for package). For example: “P77 Option package incl. 375 376”. So I think we may be tangled up in Porsche semantics. Perhaps vinanalytics is tangled up in its original 911 focus, where what may have been individual options in a 911 are in packaged options (or even standard, e.g. LWBs!) for other models like the Spyder, so vinanalytics creates redundancies when its database parses a 987.2 as if it were some flavor of 911. As someone famous once said: “It depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is.” The only probative Spyder option codes are those actually appearing in the options section of the Porsche Build Sheet for a Spyder, as compiled and collected by JSF101.

I was thinking along these lines as well. I suspect that you are right.

Nice effort! Not a stats man myself but I'm sure it'll be of huge help to many.

I've been the owner of 2011 Spyder ending in 745134 for the last 5 years if you want to add my name to your database. Unbelievable job you have done here!
