New Cayman R Owner Intro
I’m the new proud owner of this 2012 Porsche Cayman R! I couldn’t be more thrilled to own this dream car of mine. For me the R checks all the boxes…flat 6, manual, special factor and door pulls! I fell in love with this car at a cars and coffee event and couldn’t pass it up. Guards red, manual, PSE, fantastic condition and maintenance history. I couldn’t be more happy to join the R family.
I love the driving experience. It’s the perfect size, perfect amount of horsepower, perfect tone of exhaust (love the flat 6 howl), fantastic manual feel and engagement, etc. I’m truly blown away at how good this car is.
I’ve owned a few cars and only one prior Porsche. I’m a big Ferrari fan and have owned a lovely 550. V12 and gated manual was fantastic but too GT for me. I then moved into an F430 which I still have but slowly the miss for manual started to bother me. I took out my buddies manual R8 a month ago and couldn’t sleep that night…needed another manual.
I am excited to learn more about this car and the support Rennlist can provide! Enjoy your R….they are fantastic! Thank you.

As a former owner - I can honestly say it’s the ONLY car I’ve ever sold that I still think about, and have regrets (if we had garage space I think it might still be with me).
I had Peridot, manual, LWB, lightly optioned and the only thing missing was PSE (but I made a few mods to bump up the sound so I could hear the car on track).
It was my “Goldilocks” car and while I love the GT4 (on my third one now), there was something intangible about the R that made it really special.
I’ll share one of my fave photos: a day I picked it up from service and the late afternoon sun made it “glow”.
I edited out the background and had a t-shirt made with this photo. Since the background wasn’t particularly attractive, I did my best to delete without encroaching on the lines of the car. For the t-shirt it was fine. If you zoom in you can see the picket fence in the background, and the ‘rough” edges of my editing
On track at Indy GP course Aug 2015 - had a blast. Also had the car on several tracks including Road Atlanta, Mosport, WGI, Mid-OH, Pitt Race. Many many fun days!

I've got another Peridot with buckets. Added the PSE and a harness bar-belts combo for track days. Otherwise it's stock and I don't think it needs anything else. It's not as outright fast as some 911s but it's a perfect car for spending a day or two at a track.

Half of me likes the black tips, goes with the car. The other half is a purist and wants to return the car back to stock.
Thoughts?
