I realize this is an old thread, however, I have a question about the correct finish on a A1 black Spyder. The build sheet states that it came with options 445 - 19" Boxster Spyder Wheel(s) and XD9 - Wheels Painted in Exterior Color. I have two questions. 1) would the wheels have had the silver lip or would they have been all black? 2) would they have been all one color gloss black or, like the standard silver wheels, been two tones of black? I would think one color but just want to make sure.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Regarding your first question, I was able to pull some VIN data and find some cars with the XD9 option.
One thing that I want to note is the VIN data can be strange, for instance, all Spyders would have come standard, I think, with the 445 wheel option. Whether or not it is on your build sheet shouldn't matter. If someone would have selected a wheel option other than the Spyder wheel, then that would definitely be listed. This is also true for buckets, all Spyders came standard with buckets, so you actually need to search for cars that have Sport Seats instead. But for some reason Porsche called out buckets on some build sheets and not on others.
The following are cars with both XD9 and 445:
This one is strange because it has XD9 but you'd think the wheels should be white in that case, so not sure if this is the best example.

This one seems more realistic and does show the silver painted lip.

If we look at cars that have only XD9, which should be valid due to the reasons I mentioned above, we get the following:

Not Spyder wheels, but shows how even other styles are done:

Also, just so you can see how it is done on other models such as the 997.1 GT3, this is XD9 but on a white car, you can see the silver lip, white face and silver barrels:

@Bxstr Thank you very much for your research and answer! The black Spyder we just purchased has both options listed on the build sheet, however, a PO changed the wheels to all silver. I'm not sure if they had the originals painted or switched them out for silver ones. I'm wanting to put the car back to spec. Does anyone have recommendations on where to send them to be returned to the original black with silver rim spec?
