Glad to hear things are working well as much as it's painful for me. I really miss the car, the 987.2 Spyder will always be a classic and a favorite of mine.

Resuscitating an old thread. How does the gearbox clutch side connector come off / disconnect?

Quick update. The issue (over heat) did come back after cleaning the connectors. I ended up replacing the valve body and doing a calibration and it now runs great. At some point I'll take the old valve body apart to see if I can find a root cause.

As for the cosmetics, the car did need a serious cleaning but was in good condition otherwise.
