I'll put you down for 5 then, you'll also want one for under the car, underbody aero is important also, and surely you will want a spare too.

Don't forget the trailer too, it's sure to help airflow thru the trailer thus reducing overall drag. Figure a couple on each side of trailer !
LOL

Seriously, the quickie mock up fabrication actually turned out better than I expected, paint is drying as we speak.
And if it's effective I can reproduce them, although in a small run it will be more expensive and made in aluminum. If a larger run is made I could do them injection molded in paintable plastic or CF or FG.

I'd vote for paintable plastic

I like that also and that would keep the cost lower, but to make that feasible from a cost standpoint I'll have to sell a bunch of them. While cheaper to make that way per piece, the set up for the initial run is the expensive part.

First let's see if it's even effective, I believe it will be, but I'll wait till I have harder data on it.

The current fabricated part actually has some thoughts put into it more than JUST a simple scoop.

Put me in for 3. Just in case someone "rubs" (like last race) one or two of them off.....

I did hear that a couple SPB's had been DQ'd for side scoops before, anyone know more on this ?
I too have a side scoop, not quite happy with it yet. Testing was pretty hard this weekend as it was a race weekend. Initial take was that it was helpful and not significant drag. More testing to be sure will be done, as well as a couple more versions to optimize this thing.
What I am doing isn't a simple scoop, it's a little more thought out than that. I'm not sure how many people looked at it this weekend but people seemed to looking a lot more at the left side of the car and a few made comments.

I have these scoops, they came with the car. One cools my oil cooler and the other I suppose is in the same area as my air box and tranny cooler. I don't seem to pull like crazy on anyone so not sure it's more than just pretty decoration A scrut commented on this and on the front 996 cup splitter I showed rules on both and they agreed I later removed the splitter because I kept ripping them off during my "new track learning" experiences and wasn't worth the brain damage fixing my bumper and putting new 200 splitter on each time

Here's a couple of pictures of the side scoops I did for my Boxster. Piece number three of my hopefully six piece body kit. The splitter and dive planes are done and the ducktail is almost complete. Diffuser and side skirts to go.

Nice piece, are there dupes? The other stuff won't fly for SPB tho.
