Gary is trying to go faster, but he is confused......

All I need to do to go faster is to get the car on track.
Seems like I haven't driven in years!

Frank - just ignore Paolo (always a good practice!), it's simple. I do not like the distance between the brake and gas pedal in my Boxster, makes heel-toeing a non-natural motion for me. I am adding an aluminum plate I made to my gas pedal that moves it slightly toward me and adds a tab I can blip easily. To accomplish this I need to remove the pedal itself. While it's out I will clean and lubricate the assembly to assure many years of reliability. That's the whole story!

Gary... do yourself a favor while you have the pedal assembly out o the car; buy the rennline pedal assembly. Trust me! The plastic hinge on the stock pedal is a failure point, especially if you attach a plate for heel-toe'ing. The part fro rennline is pricey, but definitely worth it (and allows for infinite adjustability).

Thanks Glen, i'll look into the Rennline part. The whole pedal assembly was not bolted down when I went to remove it, bolt just sitting there, pedal box not even secured in its slot properly. Imagine my surprise (or lack of it considering who built this car) when I saw the pedal itself was held in place with two 1" long WOOD SCREWS, just mashing the plastic hooks against the rod that they were supposed to pivot on. I don't even think this is a Boxster gas pedal...

The wood screws through the bottom of the hinge is a common fix for when the pedal pops off. My bet is that this same issue affected the prior owner. Trust me.. been there, done that. Lasts about 1 race before it pops off again. The whole assembly is a plastic piece of crap. Now that you've done the hard part (i.e. removed the pedal), it's a quick job to modify the stock base to accept the rennline bit.
