I've done this same thing on 4 different race cars and it works just fine.
2 race weekends out of a set of front pads seems like pretty rapid consumption for a spec series where everyone seems to rarely brakes that hard........just sayin.....

Speed costs money.

My car is 75 pounds heavy but seems to do ok. I put a whole new brake system in last year with new calipers, master and booster. Nothing changed about the braking with the new system.

I used to get 2-3 race weekends out of Pagid yellows (fronts). PFCs last 3-4. Rears close to a season.

I'm the odd guy out, I use Pagid Oranges. The best thing about them is they are cheap. Just ordered fronts and rears. $340. I do what Matt does and bed them in during warm up if I can and the out lap if I have to. Works fine. If you change rotors at the same time you have to be a little more careful or you can get uneven deposits and a pretty bad wheel shake under trail braking.

I found putting slotted on the front seemed to make the Pagids work better, both RS14 and RS29 when I got to race the old Werkstatt Charlotteville cars. Never had brake issues on the old rental or when I drove Scott's car at Sebring and NJMP in the enduros.

Yes, slotted rotors are a must to keep the heat in check. Even that wasn't enough for oranges on my old Boxster with an additional 100 HP.
