Motorsports AOS?

Motorsports AOS?
From everything I read part #99610792600 fits 2003 and up Boxsters, what are you guys (or your shops) installing? The guy that built my car apparently "doesn't believe in them" and thinks you should run lower oil levels. I don't share that opinion...

Thanks Bill, the big question is does it fit the 98-99 2.5L and if modifications are required. I've seen enough Boxster mosquito destroyers at the track to know I want no part of it! Not good for the intake system, plugs, or anything else as it also causes massive vacuum pressure in the block..

Gary, it takes extensive mods to put a motorsports AOS on the early Boxster. I don't know anyone in SPB who has done it.
Use a deep sump (LNE, Mantis, etc.), updated 997 sump a/o separators, put a fresh upper AOS on, and top the oil up. You will be fine.

^ Gary, part number is 996.107.080.54 for the original "swirl pots" or sump air oil separators.
We changed to the 997 units. Not sure re. evidence that one is better than the other, but certainly consider replacing them while you are putting on a deep sump kit. These parts (there are 2 in the sump) are the first stage in de-aerating the oil.

Matt - is the 997 part #996-107-026-51?
The 986 part is 996-107-023-04
This is what I come up with on Pelican.
997 Oil Separator --------- 986 Oil separator

^ Yup, the second set of pics are the ones. Two in the sump. There's some debate over the 996 (original) design vs. 997 but either way it's probably a good idea to replace them while you're in there. Cheap insurance.
