Lovely piece of kit but I'm not sure it's legal.

I guess it depends on the definition of
The shifter console may be raised,
Does this raise it or replace it? Don't know.

Wouldn't this be considered a short shift kit?

C. Short shift kits are allowed. The shifter console may be raised, and aftermarket shift cables may be used, but shift cables must remain stock length.

That was my thought. I already put one in based on my interpretation of this rule.

I have sold quite a few for the Spec Boxster however I wasn't 100% certain of this. Thank you very much for clarifying. This is considered a short shift kit with OEM specs. We have also have risers and Performance Shifter Cables for this vehicle. The cables are also within spec - OEM lengths.

Re. 'short shift kits' in the rules - IMHO the intention is to allow replacing the shifter arm itself i.e. B&M that most of us have done.

I suspect that replacing the whole console is technically 'illegal' but it's gonna take a scrut with intimate knowledge of the rules and a bug up his *ss to really give you a hard time about this. Having said that it probably makes sense to add this to the list of potential changes for rules committee this fall.

Cables - YES. Are these available now? I've been bugging Ira for months....

The next batch of shifter cables will be ready next week. I'm sure Ira will have them available then.

Also, I have confirmed that the shifter is legal and there are few out in the circuit already.

Just signed up, so I can't PM yet... Will these work on '97s? Your site lists '99-2012.

Thanks!

Ian
