I just got my first SPB Boxster (#27) and will be racing at Road Atlanta. I am coming from a 1976 911 in GT5 so any advise is welcome.

But, my first issue is that I tow with an open trailer and the car does not have windows. What are my options to keep the car dry and closed in while towing?

Welcome to SPB. I towed down to Sebring on an open trailer from NJ. I covered the windows with a body shop plastic that is sticky on one side. It's called crash wrap and can be found in an auto body supply house. It worked great. See you at Road Atlanta. Keith #11 SPB

I use carpet protection film available at home centers. Probably not as nice as the body shop material mentioned above, but it is cheaper and easier to find.

Thanks for your help, I will look into both options.

Power steering, better brakes, way more rubber on the road (205/225 on 911), G50, I am looking forward to it. The RA T&T will be my first experience driving it other than around the block. Too bad it is not my home track, Sebring.

RA looks like there are a few new faces, so you might be surprised where you finish. My advice for RA is to make sure you bring rain tires with you. We will likely see wet weather sometime over the weekend I believe.

As long as you have added sufficient drainage to the floor pan (especially under the seats) I don't think you will have any trouble. Two years ago I made a trip to Road America from Minneapolis in July through a torrential downpour (about 3 hours of hard rain). The car was on an open trailer with nothing covering the windows. The interior was wet, but nothing like I was fearing. Since then I don't worry about it.

We use an enclosed trailer but wanted to say welcome to what I think is the fastest growing class. We had 32 Boxsters out of 106 racers last weekend at TWS.

I had the same question being new to SPB and an open trailer... I will look into the crash wrap for sure... I have car tarp that can tied down but I tested it towing and still risk of ballooning and not a solution.

I solved the problem with a trailex enclosed trailer. Wrap is gonna be much cheaper.

Drive to DE with street car, 944 na
Add tire trailer
Get 968, need more speed, same trailer
Get 911 track car with safety equipment, justify, justify!
DE with 911 AND trailer
911, race ready, why not (drove to race with trailer behind, anyone remember those days?)
Sold 968 to buy Jeep and Trailex
There is NO F250 and enclosed trailer in my future
Crash wrap or plexiglass IS in my future
