Default Airbag Controller Removal?

I've seen some references in other forums that seem to indicate that if you remove the airbag controller module, the car will not run. It apparently links to the DME in some fashion. For spb, are these typically removed and some wires jumpered. Or are they one other thing you need to tie up under the dash and have another failure point...or am I confused.

Anyone have any information on this? I'm not a circuit diagram wizard so haven't been able to do much with the bentley manual

You can just disconnect the airbag controller the car will run fine without it.

I just pulled it and had no issues. Just disconnect it. And maybe pull the airbag bulb from the gauge cluster if you get sick of looking at the light on your dash.

Thanks all - found the issue. I had searched 968 rather than 986 (oops!), Pulled the module. No issues.
