So for the $40-60k range that i think most 993's fall into, what would you get? usage is for occasional drives. maybe 3 times a week max during April-November. and i'm mostly interested in something 2009+ if we're talking a Pcar flat 6.

Only car I owned which was more enjoyable than a Porsche was a lotus. Specifically an Exige S. $60k won't get you an 09 (at least not an S260) but any exige S is a blast and if you want the extra 40hp it is just a $500 tune away.

I am slowly warming to the idea of trading for a new Cayman S. Spec would be PDK, plain interior with all the handling bits and possibly paint to sample. I am thinking Arena Red? I am open to suggestions on colour.
I love the 993 but it might be time for a change. I have owned mine since 08.

Why would anyone want to do that? Sell a car that's appreciating to buy one that's depreciating? Sell a car that has soul for one that's soul-less? Sell a car that can be worked on by the owner and/or most competent mechanics for one that requires sophisticated, expensive test equipment to access its black boxes? Not me!

I would have kept my 993 if it could have been a weekend driver only, but I needed a daily driver so I got this 2014. It fits your specs and price range. I must say it's a pretty amazing car.

Hard to say maybe trade in my Carrera for a 993 Turbo. Sometimes doing upgrades to the car you always wanted can be a disappointment. My brother went from 911SC to the 86' Turbo he always wanted. Turned out the Turbo was harder to drive in traffic due to its low compression and torque at lower engine speeds. I think he liked his SC better. In my case, I always wanted a Testarossa until I tried to fit in one. No-go.

If I had to get rid of my 993 and couldn't get another I would probably look for a 987 boxster spyder 6mt or 996 gt3.

Maybe a 996 GT3 or possibly a Boxster Spyder/ Cayman R.
