Is this oil level low if next service is only in 1.5 months
Hello,
992 S here, i just noticed the oil level, as per the photo below, service is still in 7 weeks. Is the below a factor?
I drive the car every day but the daily commute is short. Total is 2,600miles per year..
I wouldnt do that. You want that level to be somewhere in between and not over. Difference from min to max is 1L so adding an entire L would overfill. The car will let you know to add 1L if it goes below the min level.
Do not do that. Putting an additional full liter in will trigger the overfill warning. At the most, there's room for 1/2 a liter more of oil to hit the max line but there's still a possibility of triggering the overfill warning. The message literally says it's OK. Best is to leave this alone.
Overfilling the oil in these cars is worse than letting it get slightly low. If memory serves, the volume of oil between the low level and the high level is 1.4L, so you're sitting right in the sweet spot.
Frequent, short trips can lead to condensation building up in the crank case. So be sure to go on longer drives periodically to get the car properly warmed up to burn off any condensation that has potentially built up in the crankcase. If you do this, you might see a slight drop in the oil level but it shouldn't be anything to concern yourself with. You just don't want to see a large spike in oil consumption, which could be an indication of a failed or failing AOS. Just don't overthink it.

If the OP goes for a high speed drive on a highway for 30 minutes and checks the oil level again, after condensation burn off, he may find the gauge below the minimum mark. But as it is, "OK" means OK.

Although the amount of condensation present is dependent on whether the OP gets the car up to temp and takes longer drives regularly you make a very good point.
That's why personally I would add around a 1/4 liter of oil, regardless of the fact that an oil change is due soon. It's sure not to overfill or do harm (definitely don't add a liter!) and eliminates the possibility of dropping below minimum.

If he has so much condensation in his oil that your scenario happens, he shouldn't wait 7 more weeks to get oil change.
I would consider a DD that only manages 2600 miles per year, as an extremely harsh condition scenario and likely worthy of a shorter oil change schedule anyway.

I do short trips daily with my Cayenne GTS and after several months with the indicator showing 1 litre down, I drive 100 kms to our cabin and then back and Im down another 1/2 litre. Can be quite a bit of condensation build up in the oil.
