I do recall this trip and I was actually the slower car. I am in the far right lane (the slow lane) and remember the red car blowing past me. For the record this is on Route 210 in Southern Maryland - Prince Georges County. It is considered one of the worst roads in the area. https://www.law-margulies.com/blog/2...angerous-road/
My first motor vehicle moving violation in over 25 years. I really need to concentrate a lot more on the power and speed/acceleration capabilities of this car. I am not condoning my driving speed on this public road. I'll pay the fine and try harder to be a safer driver.

I'm actually kind of impressed. I heard a rumor that he was still in second gear.
Over 100 mph and they pull your car into "tech inspection" for 30 days or so, You and your attorney need to appear in person in front of a judge, Loss of License, Very Expensive. Mandatory for 100 mph or more.
In general it doesn't sound like much fun.

on a happier note, I love the color of your car!
In Texas if you are going 76 in a 55 you better have a ramp on your car for the real speeders to go right over you. Im always amazed that no matter how fast Im driving or in which lane, someone needs to be right on my bumper.
Maryland is notorious for their 3rd party operated speed cameras. The irony is there appears to be a police vehicle headed the opposite direction in the center lane.
I would consult with a good defense lawyer and get his/her thoughts before paying the fine..

I thought about fighting it. No points, small $120 fine...not worth the time and expense on getting legal aid.
Sorry to hear about your ticket. As long as it doesn’t affect insurance I suppose there is no reason to fight it. My position is usually to fight with the help of an attorney, because my record is clean and I prefer to keep it that way. I haven’t had a ticket in many years. I generally try to not-stand-out, and go with (or close to) traffic flow, with an occasional “burst” if I need to get through a clump of traffic (when a safe opportunity presents).
My concern about having it on my license would be if there is another infraction - then you’ve no longer got the “clean license” argument.
For my last ticket (easily 20+ years ago) I went to an online traffic school and mailed the certificate along with paying a fine. My record was back to “clean” and it’s been that way every since.
I do use an updated ValentineOne and WAZE.
I'm assuming, like most speed camera tickets or infractions it's no points & doesn't go on your insurance (because the ticket wasn't issued by a human), it's just a Moneygrab.
Usually speed cameras are easily defeated by Waze and by good radar detectors ... supposedly Colorado is linking cameras (along with Ai) along certain sections of certain freeways so they can follow you/your car and figure your average speed between the various cameras, Then they'll send you a ticket because you traveled 60 miles in 45 minutes. I fear big brother is going to get worse and worse / more and more intrusive.

They use speed cameras in construction zones in PA. I agree with that but once this is proven to be a good revenue source, use will expand. Most drivers dont pay attention until insurance is impacted. Easy government cash.

That's the whole point. Rake in tons of cash without changing behavior because no one is going to fight a $120 ticket if there is no non financial consequence associated with it. It's nothing more than a government and third party cash grab from citizens. People will argue that only those that speed pay it, and you are not forced to speed. But they will just lower the speed limits and thresholds if enough people are not paying.

They tried this in MI recently with the "only in construction areas" argument, but government has such a terrible track record people immediately saw right through it. Obviousley the sheep let it pass anyway. Just a matter of time before they are everywhere.

I just noticed that not only is it a police car going the opposite direction, but he is the only car on that entire side of the highway. Was it closed or was there an accident somewhere in the direction you were headed?
Even the traffic on your side seems perfectly spaced like it’s an AI game. I wish traffic around me looked like that highway.

Agree, plus all the cars in the left lane are white. All the way ahead around the curve; well mostly white.
OP...you sure this is a legit photo and not an AI generated?

At the top of the hill there is a 4-way stop light. That one car driving south probably was the only car that turned onto Route 210.
And this was around 3:30pm on a Sunday so traffic was a bit light. During morning and evening commutes the traffic gets heavy, especially the 5 miles from the Capital Beltway.
**** cameras. But I will say I got caught going 90+ in a 65, ticket written as 85 in a 65... with a class A cdl in a personal car. Ticketcrushers got it dismissed, same cost as the ticket $350, but no record now. This was in Cali for reference.
