Default K24 Upgrade Options

I recently acquired a set of well used K24's, they were pulled off a well functioning 996tt, however they are old and crusty. I would like to send them out to be upgraded.

The question becomes to whom do i send them. I'm looking to be in the 600+whp/tq area. on pump 93 octane

At this point the options seem to be:

Protomotive - K2418Gxt
Sam, By Design - K24/68mm Billet Hybrids
Markski - K24 based billet Spec I or K24 based billet spec 2 - 54mm/75mm wheel
UMW - Kevin has posted about his k24s on here somewhat recently. However i have not reached yet, and do not know what he offers and how it compares to the other options, performance and cost wise.

Hybrid / Billet K24 user experiences, dyno charts, etc. will be much appreciated.

What else are you going to upgrade at the same time? You're going to need fueling, clutch, etc for 600whp. I'm at 525rwhp with "regular" K24's, 5 bar fpr, stock clutch, etc.

I have the 54/75 Marski billets with the supporting mods. At ~75 ambient temps I see 18.5-19.5 psi (1.3-1.4 bar on dash), pump 93. The car pulls very hard and has a fantastic top end.
Supporting performance mods (not counting suspension/braking/ect):
- Flexible inlets
- Marski Intercoolers
- Marski 3" exhaust with GESI cats
-750cc EV14s
-710Ns
-SRM boost hoses
-Sachs 2.5 clutch and OEM GT2 slave
-TS motor mounts
-AEM boost and wideband gauges

I have already upgraded the clutch - good for 800tq, have all supporting performance, exhaust, intake, intercoolers, fuel pump. Just waiting to the install turbos to install new injectors.

Nice, glad you found a set. I believe most of the upgrades use a KTS 18g billet wheel done by Blouch Turbo. I know Markski and it looks like Protomotive use them. You can't send your turbos to Blouch, you have to go through one of the dealers as they have an agreement not to sell direct. I have them and they are good aside from being more laggy on the spoolup than I would like. I've seen Kevin geeking out on with different combos that looked good, can't recall which thread. But what I would do if I were you is to try to get Garrett parts installed in your K24's to try to get a quicker spooling turbo. Particularly the Garrett turbine wheel or one of the copies. I saw Mamaba sells a copy of it. See if Kevin can build you something like that. Maybe a Forced Performance HTA68 compressor with a Garrett turbine wheel, that would be nice.

if $$ was no object, id go with UMWs k24s

I think FVD used to make a k24/26 hybrid which used a larger turbine wheel off a 944 turbo? or something along those lines

I think you could hit 600 whp on the stock k24s but it'd be pushing it.

To get 600 at the wheels safely on pump, youd prob need a bigger turbo.

For sure, though the K24's do get close, like 550 or so. It would just be nice to improve on the standard turbines with some of the newer designs. I'm tempted to put in some of those Mamba turbines to see how they go.

I think these are the K24 compressor wheel options from KTS: https://www.ktsturbobilletx.com/inde...rch&search=k24

this is an old thread that has some info on umw k24s

Ultimate Motorwerks New K24/26 Turbocharger - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

The k26/24 hybrid is a k26 compressor wheel milled into the k24 compressor housing. The k26 wheel has a 65mm exducer where the k24 wheel is 60mm

A bit bigger than stock...

That was long ago before the billet Cnc compressors became a thing. I'm sure he has better stuff now.

When I rebuilt mine last month, I was tempted to try these, but their customer service was pretty bad and I wasn't actually sure if I knew I was doing the right thing.

Who did you have rebuild them? Did you modify them?

They are Chinese copies of the Garretts so I imagine no one there can read you emails. All of the compressors and turbines come from somewhere in Asia but they seem to work well.

Interesting, I thought they were Taiwanese. Inconel, which is nice for thermal management.

I wasn't sure if I had to put the injectors in, 3.8fpr and re tune, so I left it.

And really, after they were fixed and I went for a nice long drive, if it's breaking free in third under load, not sure how much more power I really need.

Maybe better quality than I think then. I kind of want to do it, maybe this winter. Not too excited to take my turbos off though.
