APR tune for Spyder - pops and burbles?
If you've gotten an APR tune for your Spyder while keeping the OEM exhaust, did the tune generate ample exhaust pops and burbles (assuming that's possible)? The website seems to indicate the possibility but I'm not clear on it. I had an APR tune with my prior 4-pot Boxster and liked the power, and the Boxster OEM exhaust already provided pops and burbles in sport mode.

How’d you come up with £3,000 when they are $2,500 in the states, plus they were just 10% off from the Labor Day sale? I imagine there will be another sale at some point before end of the year.

Price Inc. VAT
IMPORTANT PRICING AND AVAILABILITY DETAILS: -£2901.00
it’s way more than anyone else and no real smart tune. So the worse interface and the biggest price.

Theres a noticeable difference but I wouldn't call it "night and day" like a tune on a turbo car. The cool thing about APR is they offer an E85 tune that comes with the package, so that's my next fill up, so excited to see if there's another nice bump.

As someone who had Softronic for a year and now the APR for a year, I would completely disagree with you, but you’re entitled to your own opinion based on here-say (?), I guess. Buy whichever tune makes you happy.

Honestly, there really aren’t any…at least that are too noticeable to me. The only ones I hear are from the Kline Inconel exhaust more so than the APR tune. Supposedly there is supposedly an option for it, but I don’t recall seeing it on UltraLink when playing around with the device to see how it works after already having the ECU and TCU tune dealer-installed. I’ll check it out more closely though the next time I ever hook it up.

It's just a quick muffled double pop when you lift to shift, it's not like an AMG or other cars that pop contunuously very sublte. Mine also has OAPs and JCR rear section so with stock exhaust maybe imperceptible.

I’m with Funk on this, don’t do it.
I followed a 991.2 T for 2 hours on a PCA drive. It was stock, every lift pop-pop. Drove me crazy and was shocked PAG would program that in.
Natural overrun burble is fine, which the 4.0 does just fine on occasion.

Every one gets the same BHP on these tunes and the going rate is £2k, £1k less.
Same about the smart tuner, APR don't send you a box to do it yourself so come service time you cannot take it off easy !
These are not opinions, these are two facts, price and lack of smart tuning ! I myself would use Jens he offers stage 1 and 2 tunes and has done a 100-200 in 8.1 seconds. this looks better than APR and you can do the tunes yourself on and off.
If it were £2k and you had a smart tune box maybe, but they are a dated outfit it feels like to not offer it.
Have you got a softtronic 100-200 pull vs apr 100-200 pull on your car ? if not why not ?

My oh my! I started this thread by asking a simple question about pops and burbles with an APR tune and look what happened -- please try to avoid fisticuffs, guys.
FYI, Dylan Hunter at APR sent me the following in response to an email:
"Our pops and bangs options for this car is available with the OEM sport exhaust. We adjust the valves just a little bit to amplify the pops and bangs that are already present on the car. The following options are available, in addition too, amplifying the stock pops and bangs;
· Sport exhaust button fully opens and closes the exhaust flaps
· Exhaust crackle added in park and neutral (optional)
· Closed exhaust flaps open fully at wide open throttle above 4,500 RPM"
Thanks to those who responded on topic.
