My 997.2 Carrera 6MT Maintenance and Mods Journey
Brand new here and I'm excited to join this community of other pcar enthusiasts. Growing up my father drove a 911 Carrera and I'm now proud to call this 997.2 Carrera my own.
I hoping this to be a life long car for me so I thought I would record and share my maintenance and modding journey. It's also my hope to enlist this communities help with any helpful feedback and advice.
Below is my 2010 Carrera 997.2 6MT in meteor grey metallic with 52K miles. The car came with sharkwerks bypass exhaust, H&R lowering springs, and everything else is stock.
2010 C2 @ 52,000 miles:
- full interior and exterior details
- changed all 6 spark plugs
- flushed and refilled transmission oil
- flushed and refilled engine oil
- factory meteor grey metallic paint is in excellent condition
- full under panel inspection, no rust, everything runs great
Future mods:
- I'd like to get new wheels but I can't decide on the brand and color. The two I have in mind would be BBS LM (in black or very shiny silver) or BBS CH-R (in anthracite). Any thoughts, advice, and photo references?
- Eew engine mounts
- Numeric short shift kit and a new ****
- Soul side sport mufflers. Anyone have feedback getting new soul side mufflers vs soul long headers, especially if I already have a sharkwerks center bypass exhaust?
- GT3 front bumper. I did was searching but these seems to be a little hard to find. Only found Getty Designs with a non-OEM version - are these reliable?

Congrats and welcome.
Hopefully one of my sons will follow in my footsteps like you have in your fathers. Good taste!
As far as the wheels go, both are great choices and you cannot go wrong with the classic designs, they fit the car well. I would avoid the black BBS' and stick with silver or gold for the LMs or go Satin with the BBS CHRs.
Current 07 C4 & 08 Aero on LMs.
My old 06 Aero that I sold last spring on Satin CHRs. (These are 20's, I would recommend 19's at this point.)
Hopefully that gives you a better idea.

Congrats!! ---> Meteor Grey is a beautiful color. H&R Springs are great. Great job doing the services you performed.
There seems to be a little bit more height in your rear wheel wells than I usually see with H&R's. Do you know if you have rear spacers installed?
I love Lobster Fork wheels(Wheels on your car) in original Silver finish.
Enjoy the fun!!

Gray or silver wheels for the meteor gray metalic
Lovely! You are lucky man! Your last car is the same color I have now. I’m trying to figure out if gray wheels or silver wheels would look better on the meteor gray paint.
Challenging indeed haha

997.1 GT3 front bumper is an option - but it's essentially "backdating" the car, and I really prefer the LEDs of the 997.2 and front fascia overall.
The downside is that 997.2 bumpers in anything but stock form are hard to find, and the 997.2 GT3 parts are really pricey. I sent you a PM about a GTS bumper I have.

Looking forward to it. Question, I’m getting an Indy shop to install it. When they install it, would they typically calibrate the shifts are smooth into each gear before getting the car back? Or is that calibration something I need to do.
@rhao510 Congratulations on your car and the journey ahead. You're gonna adore that Numeric shifter when you get it installed, it feels like the way the car should have come from the factory.

There is no callibration needed, apart from the shifter is roughly central to all its planes of movement, and each gear able to be fully engaged.
If adjustment is needed, there are some threaded nuts right where the cables fit the frame of the Numeric that set orientation of the shifter further foward or backward, left or right.
The shifter itself is basically a dumb lever that manipulates two cables to actuate the gearbox levers, the "snickyness" into gear & the self centering feeling of the stick all lives inside the tranny.
There is one major party trick, you can select short, medium or regular "throw" of your shift by selecting one of three fulcrum positions on the Numeric lever, little allen keys & good eyes needed.
If indy shop installs it, all will be fine when you pick it up. You may never have to look at it's skeletal CNC machined beauty ever again, but at least you know it's there.

New BBS Wheels
9/16 - Put on new BBS LM wheels and brand new spankin' Pilot Sport 4S.
Next up are RSS engine mounts. I've been trying to find Ohlin suspension set but been unsuccessful. Have a few questions for the community!
(1) Do you know where I can get some nice quality chrome-style exhaust tips to match my new wheel color? The soul performance ones are like way to expensive. Would any tip fit my exhaust?
(2) I have a 10 year old set of sharkwerks sports exhaust (center muffler bypass)... this version uses a slightly different mounting method than the latest one. Anyway, do you guys think it's worth $1500 to buy and install a new set to replace my old one?
(3) Are there any small engine performance upgrades I can make to the car?
