Shameless bump for posting a used car for 50K over sticker on the day the world's stock markets collapse. I guess I get to keep it and drive it a while longer and this is probably not a bad thing

not shameless at all. I’d be ashamed if I were your math teacher though

Good point. I was thinking 50 over what I paid. Taxes and fees were $16 or 17K in the delightful state of California. I may have to do the Montana registration thing in the future if these cars keep getting any more expensive!

Nothing like getting low balled by a dealership who gets allocations

No **** - that's pretty insulting. . . and even if he were going to make that ridiculous offer, he could do it privately instead of broadcasting to the world. LOW CLASS maneuver for sure. . .

What am I missing here guys? A dealer offered $250K - $48K OVER MSRP no less - on a car with a $267K asking price. And note that the car DIDN'T SELL at the $267K asking price. The market has spoken and it said this ain't a $267K car these days.

Just where exactly is the insult here?

No one with any decent upbringing negotiates like this in the open . . .do it privately, especially if you are a dealer.

It's real bizarre for a dealership to come to an enthusiast forum and post this way. It makes no sense from a goodwill perspective. But the sad irony is that the reason why $49,000 over is normal is because of dealerships. Dealerships take ADM, not Porsche. Just weird to come on an enthusiast forum and talk about markup.

I think it's normal because the market is willing entertain a # above MSRP. The dealers are a business end of the day/ not a non profit so why would they leave money on the table vs the market? If Porsche doesn't like it, they always have the option to set ground rules, sell direct, or bump up their MSRPs to fair mkt (which I assume is also something people won't like).

Can't comment on public vs private offers but just figured I'd point out that the drivers (who by the way are wiling to pay) and not the dealers create this dynamic unfortunately (IMO anyway). Just look at the Watch markets over the last few years.
