Default 987 Airbag cover seems to be going meh?

Has anybody seen this before?
2007 2.7 Cayman
Steering wheel as of late seems to be printing the Airbag break away structure beneath it

airbag loosing shape?

Has anybody seen this before?
I'm not in a hot climate
Car is always kept in garage
Rarely parked in direct sunlight on hot days and if so, not for very long.

Options?
Find a second hand one? but how long before that one has same problem.. They are all +- same age right?
Find a New old Stock somewhere? Do they even exist?
Recover? Is that even possible???!!?
Other steering wheel.. Lost originality.. and $$$$
Any other tips

Or am I imagining something new, that always has been there??
Pretty much every one I find online seems ot have it, except a few that are listed as leather

Many cars have it. I would leave it as is. Unless I was buying a new airbag from a dealer, I'd be more concerned with getting a counterfeit airbag.

Someone then could question why the airbag was replaced. Whether or not that matters to you is up to you.

I'm pretty sure its a recent development, I cannot imagine having missed such a thing for th 7 years I had it.

Isn't the cover available seperately?? and then leave OEM airbag in place, replace the cover with a good leather one as upgrade?

There's no separate cover: the airbag module is a one-piece unit.

If that's the black vinyl one it's part 99780308925A32, looks like $1200 or so new So I'd probably just live with it.

Seen tons of 997 wheels with this marking on the airbag from some age. Normal in my opinion. Does it look right? Not really.

So basically our only hope is some kind of Airbag recall which after this long is well, "unlikely" would be optimistic

Might be worth a call to Porsche. I’ve had 20+ year old seat belts replaced under warranty by another car mfg, seems they are warranted forever. I wonder if the airbag assembly might be treated similarly. Who knows, right?

That would be an extremely pointless adventure since I've never, ever bought anything directly from Porsche, except perhaps some gear from the webshop, nor has my car ever had any maintenance at their Dealership since the day I too ownership..
Couple to that its a cosmetic issue , they will laugh on the phone till I hang up on the call

Not the exact solution but I have clients who have this issue and various other cosmetic wheel/airbag problems and I upgrade them to the 991+ style wheels we sell, fixes the issue and gives the car a much more modern day look.

Cool that that works, but I'm kinda looking to keep mine original where at all possible.
I kinda like the 987 steering wheel I have, IF i went that route, Would probably look at the sports steering wheel for the 987, the smaller diameter with round center.
But those are spendy as well
