Default Tunes

How does Softronic compare to the other tunes (Markski, By Design, etc.) on these cars? Thanks, Mike

For sure you will get better results and help by hiring one of the tuners.

They are all going to claim that they have the best tune.

By Design using the COBB is a favorite for many. That's how I did it and I am super happy with the results.

I have an X50 with upgrade IC and 1 bar waste gates. The OTS tune was an improvement but kind of jumpy and surgey. Sam did 3 rounds of logging, updating the program and re-logging. He got it smoothed out and made sure I was operating in a safe zone. He said I was topped out at a safe 520 Crank HP and should not push it more without increased fueling with a 5 BAR FP reg. or larger injectors (preferred). Its a slippery slope, why would i need more than 520HP? Well......because....

Get a custom tune, you won't regret it. I still pass smog here in Kalfornia without needing to go back to t stock program.

Softronic offers custom tunes apparently but they have OTS ones as well.

A custom tune will be better than an OTS tune, for sure.

Hello,
Softronic for some history as to the 996TT goes back a bit and more than 20 years . We did the Switzer cars, Vivid Racing, worked with Sam and Markski on their first cars, Imagine Auto and many more. We did the tuning for the Alpha 28, K16/16 and variants, Garrett 30/76 and others with man boost control or DME controlled along with mafless , launch control and too much to list. I believe the fastest tip still applies also...... Most of this went into the 997TT as well with the same tuners.

You also have to keep in mind we were the company that started the port flashing and datalogging back then also. We would custom tune cars all over the world.

Just thought I would offer some quick background.

Best,
Scott

As with the others, does Softronic offer custom tuning as well? Thanks, Mike

Hello,
Yes and we always have yet we would consider custom tuning compared to a normal flash like adding larger turbos with different injectors and lets say man boost control and items like that. Otherwise any of our options listed that we offer and others for racing would be part of a standard tune and you could always log and send us the files if you wish. Give me a call and I can explain further.

Best,
Scott

I have had 2 different Softronic tunes and have been very satisfied with both.
Scott is excellent to work with and responds to emails 24/7. It would be hard to beat his experience with these cars and provided great customer service.

My 996TT X50 Tip has what I believe is a very early collaboration between Sam and Protomotive. I wish I knew what the nature of the tune was, but the access port was lost between PO's, as was the specifics of the tune and the work done (HUGE bummer). I can tell you one thing, the car is ridiculously fast, to the point where I will be reprogramming/detuning it a bit in the fall. That said, the current power is smooth and linear (a very fast linear). She is a really nice docile ride while doing chores, right up until you smash the throttle. Then all hell breaks loose!

If you can get a proper dyno tune, do it. Nothing wrong with the box tunes that get adjusted from logs, but a dyno tune is better...
