Default Trailer awnings

anyone have any experience with adding one to an existing trailer? (self install, brand, etc)

google search seems to pull up a bunch of camping type items. is there a particular size i should be looking at to cover the car?

thx

You might be better off with a 10x15 EZup … i’ve seen a few awnings get really twisted in high winds , regardless you have to retract them in high winds or stormy situations , as for an EZup you can just lower it and it will still protect your car.
I removed mine from my 20ft trailer after high winds damaged it while i was on track …

Cheers
Phil

Give Trailers of the East coast a call as they are one of the best custom shops near you. Plenty of options ranging from manual to full automatic with wind detection like you would find on a RV. Pay close attention to the location of the end supports. Some are high on the trailer while others anchor at the bottom which make it more difficult to park. Adding after the trailer has been built is not a problem.

When I finally stepped up and purchased our FEATHERLITE, my wife made the stipulation that I get an awning. I think the brand was DOLOMITE and the material is SUNBRELLA. Golden Gait in Concord did the installation since that's where we purchased the trailer but it was a disaster! They installed the end supports backwards. I made them come and reverse it but we still had problems. Trailers of the East Coast made it right. Coming up on 14 years old now and still in excellent condition. Yes, you have to keep an eye on the bad weather but it only takes a minute to retract. In hot weather like we're having now, it's a Godsend! Pop-ups are fine but take time, effort and anchors.

I had been looking for one forever. After having a good experience with a Carefree model on our camper I bit the bullet and bought an 18’ unit from Amazon that was crazy cheap. It should be here Wednesday and I am going to self install it on my 28’ ATC Quest.

Following up. I did receive this, BUT it was just the awning. I did order the electric arms, which were ~$1000, BUT I will say that I am $1300 in total for everything which is not awful. Hoping to install next weekend.
