Am in the middle of my 1984 EU Timing belt change and have a part conflict during the reinstall.
I have an original Porche pully 928 105 571 06 for the M28.21/22 which I ordered New.
What I pulled out of the motor looks compleatly different as is more rounded and brass colored. looks more like 928 105 571 02 which according to PET is also for an 84 M28.21/22.
Hi Dday,
For whatever it's worth, my late US '83 model was equipped with what I believe is the roller bearing from the US '84 model and my notes tell me that the '83 part does not fit properly. Pretty sure the '84 part has the square shoulder, not the round shoulder. I also upgraded to a later ('85-'86) pivot arm many years ago with its much beefier plastic bushings, which you might want to consider while you're in there. You can see some pictures here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...l#post15705001
Question -- does the new part that you purchased (571 06) actually fit when installed with the pivot arm, and is it centered on the belt? If so, if it was me, I'd triple check with Porsche that the 06 is really supposed to work (I don't even see that number in my admittedly old PET) and if so use it.
If you want to re-use the outer portion and simply replace the bearing, that is yet another option to consider. Roger (928sRUs) sells just the replacement bearing for a few dollars. Be sure to save and re-use the little insert on the inner race of the bearing, too.

Sorry for the late answer, was delayed with a seared off fastner in the waterpump....
Just FYI the Part ending in 06 seems to be the correct one for my can. As far as I understand there is a varience based on the Motor number in 84.
