Default Stainless Steel vs. Stock brake hoses

Hi,
Since I'm replacing pads and rotors, I planning on also replacing brake line hoses. Any opinions on stock vs. stainless steel? I've read mixed reviews on some brands. Anyone happy with the SS choice? if so which brand? or just spend more on stock?

Thanks.

I noticed a more solid pedal feel when I swapped mine 10+ years ago.

+1 a more solid brake pedal. I bought mine from FD Motorsport a number of years ago.

I went with fresh stock Porsche branded hoses. Original s lasted 25 yrs with no issue, I expect the new ones to do the same. My car is primarily street use. Pedal is solid. Consider a really good set of snap-on flare wrenches to make the job trouble free.

I went stainless, many years ago.

Thanks for the feedback. For those who went SS, please let me know what brand you went with. Looking at FD right now.

I have had Stoptech DOT braided hoses with crimped ends. They made a huge difference in the sharpness of the brake peddle feel. This is not to say replacing 26-year-old rubber brake hoses with new standard rubber ones would not result in the same improvement. The key is to buy hoses that comply with the technical aspects of the DOT brake hose specification. Racing hoses or hoses with reusable fittings, not crimped-on I would think pose a sudden hose failure issue for a street-driven car.

I am planning to change my hoses to stainless and ordered Techna-fit. The decision was 1) DOT rated 2) The front hoses come with the factory hose protector just like OEM Porsche.

I got a set from FD back when they did a group buy, I don't recall how long ago that was, but several years at least, no issues since.

Given the above, would you still stick to the rubber ones?

I think you misunderstood. The stock ones were more expensive 3yrs ago too. See original post.

So, save your money. I have the FD ones.

This is simple stuff. ATE is/was the OEM supplier and they still offer the exact replacement hoses specific for 993 complete with the spring wound shield for not a lot of money from your favorite online supplier. I just replaced all the rubber bits on my '95 just due to age. I cut open one of the 30 year old ATE original hoses and there was no swelling or other problems internally whatsoever. However they were still 30 years old. SS braided hoses will give you some kind of bragging rights and a look and see at the Cars & Coffee.
