I am debating between a 991.1 vs 991.2 GT3RS and wanted to know what are the big differences between them.
I know they both share the same 4.0 motor.
The .2 version has 20 more horsepower.
The front bumper looks different.
The performance is very close or nearly identifical.
Transmission is the same.
They weight about the same, within 25 pounds difference.
the .2 motors are putting down a good chunk more power than the .1 GT3RS. more than the 20hp porsche would have you believe. in reality its like 30+whp difference with a big bump in mid range torque.
in regards to the RS there are some changes to the suspension in the .2 making it more track oriented and less street oriented than the .1RS.
Same basic block in .2 as .1, but new oiling system in .2 that reduces the chances of cam scoring to almost zero. Chances of .1 GT3 or RS with G spec engines having cam scoring is a lot less than cars with E or even F spec engines, but still somewhat possible (not too likely though).
You will find may posts where this information exists. Most of the members here with a .2 had a .1 first and can attest that both are great and will test the best of drivers on a track. Likewise, both are fast and will go from legal to not in a few seconds on the street. If I were in this spot right now I would start with the version I find most appealing aesthetically. Because for me and my driving capabilities, the suspension changes, PDK update, HP gain, or extra carbon parts will not make me faster on the track. Alternatively, for the more hardcore skilled enthusiasts they do realize the incremental benefits and it's definitely worth the upgrade. Good luck!

Here’s a track comparison around Laguna Seca. He explains in the video that the .2 RS has extra mufflers which probably took away some power. But kinda interesting.

There is however a big price difference.
Please help identify the differences. Thanks !
.2 looks slightly better , nicer tail lights and front and rear bumpers
better aero , higher spoiler and under body rear diffuser on .2
all the .2 differences with the pcm etc... ( Apple car play )
.2 revs higher to 9k thus sounds better
ability to get WP on the .2
motor is more torquey ; better oiling system and is basically based on cup car motors
I think the .2 is the better car throughout

Lots of good input from others so far. Other than the obvious aesthetic differences, here is my "general" take on the two:
.1 is a little more "raw". The transmission in the .1 is noisier (more gravely sounding). The sport mode on the .1 seems to hold the gears longer in less spirited driving, but the shifts aren't quite as crisp. The .1 transmissiion is crazy fast at shifting, but the .2 is even better. The .1 is easy to drive fast on the street, but the .2 can be a little quicker once you learn to drive it. I was surprised that getting into the .2 I had relearn how to drive the car to make it as quick as the .1. I think that has more to do with the transmission than anything. Honestly, you won't be disappointed with either, so if you find a .1 with the options you want and a good price I wouldn't hesitate to get it.
Also the .2 has a backup camera and slightly less noise insulation trying to lower it's weight.
The other thing is the .1 when not in Sport is a softer ride better on some rough tracks.
U can't go wrong with either one on a Track. The front end grip is Superior to a GT3.
But you also have the added width to deal with if passing traffic.
Last this video shows you how close it is between both. Notice on the straight the .2 pulls slightly away.
