Upgrading stock exhaust to AWE or Tubi or whatever sounds best. Original owner/totally original car/engine 25k mi; engine out to pin coolant tubes so going to change out exhaust. Has anybody heard these/compared the sounds? Does anybody know a shop that has done a lot of these for 996 GT2s?
thanks

Europipe Loud or Speedtech 3" X-Pipe are my favorites.
Run a Tubi system on my 997 and a Speedtech 3" X-Pipe on my 997. For over all sound the Speedtech is louder but makes the driving occasions even more special. The Tubi system is nice for longer drives that the girlfriend and I tend to do with long day trips of 500-1000 miles.

I too am happy with John's work.
I have his exhaust on my GT3
I once had a M&M exhaust on my 997.1 Turbo.
It was amazing, loudish, aggressive, awe-inspiring.
I'd buy another if I had a non NA car.

The GT2 is effectively the same as the 996 Turbo when it comes to exhausts and this has been discussed at nauseam for years LOL. I'll give you my personal take which is finding an exhaust that gives you the most power without DRONE. Poorly designed mufflers for these tend to drone right in the sweet spot at 2-3k. I like some of the options listed above including the EP Stage 2's (both versions). Search is definitely you friend on this one. You can also try to buy something used so that you're not taking the depreciation hit if it's not exactly what you want.
Just my .02.

When I bought my 2002 GT2 it came with a Remus exhaust. I just had my engine out and the lines pinned etc about a year ago and I left it on. Its not too much for driving around and when you stomp on it, it really opens up. Compliments the wonderfully violent acceleration of the GT2.
Not sure where you are located but I would recommend Ricky at Euro-Tec Mothers Inc in Livingston NJ https://www.facebook.com/EuroTecMotorsInc/ He's always been the one who works on all my cars. He did the engine out service and pinned all of my lines as well as lots of other little things I did while the engine was out.
