997 turbo's engine to 996 turbo

A friend of mine wants to know...if anyone has installed 997 turbo's engine to 996 turbo's chassis, using 996's Motronic and wiring loom.

Is there profound restrictions in ME7.8's ability to control 7 turbo's Variocam+ or injection/ignition?

Just facts, no speculation, please.
