It's like the stop/start button that needs to be turned off each time you get in the car.
I can't say for sure given that the S has the 2.9 litre V6 engine versus 4.0 litre V8 engine on the Turbo. My assumption is that the difference between stock exhaust and PSE on the S is a smaller difference than on the Turbo and GTS, but the best way to know for sure is to test drive an S with PSE and another without PSE to see what the "real world" differences are. Maybe there's an S owner here on the forum who has done this install on their car and has before/after clips to compare...

For the $1,000 difference, I personally would probably go for it anyway since you will get the sports tail pipes with the PSE package which I think are an upgrade on their own, and any enhanced exhaust note is nothing but upside. And you're right about the annoying fact that you can't hard code PSE to start on as a default, but just get in the habit of switching it to Sport or Sport+ every time you get in the car and PSE will be on (with the added benefit of also disabling the stupid auto stop/start function as well)!

Thank you for your reply. I already picked up the car and have the sports exhausts which I'm very happy with. I was just curious if it made a difference between the Cayenne S with and without.

2021 GTS. It roars the perfect amount when driving sporty and is QUIET on the highway. PSE is incredible on the new GTS - it sounds better compared to the older systems.

I have an E-Hybrid with PSE. IMO still too quiet for my taste. It does sound good especially at start up for sure. I am planning to go to a muffler shop and have the resonator removed. Get the PSE before you regret it.

Be careful. Removing the resonator may not give you a noticeable increase in volume and will almost certainty provide more resonation especially when cruising.

Do you mean by drone? I have done that in my few other cars (SQ5, Golf R and GLB 35 AMG) and they sound much throatier. I mean most aftermarket exhausts have no resonators and/or secondary cats anyway....But if it sounds bad, they can always do their magic and weld the resonator back on.

That exhaust has a resonator. Just downstream of that flex joint.

Not trying to argue but there are definitely non-resonated cat/turbo back exhausts out there.

Default Resonator delete

So I made the "cut" on the resonator. Seems strange. I don't hear a difference. Zero drone but I think maybe a tad louder.

I have PSE on my manual transmission 2011 997.2, and I love it. What a delight at red line.

so, when it came time to do the build on a 2014 Cayenne S, with the N/A V8, it seemed like a no brainer, even though the Cayenne would be primarily my wife’s drive. I would only use sport exhaust when I was alone in the Cayenne. But I made one mistake; I figured she would never know it had sport exhaust because she wouldn’t notice the engagement button. How was I to know that even with the PSE button in the off position at start up, it automatically turns on for a few seconds when the engine is started! And to add to the sound, the DFI gives extra pulses of fuel at cold start, so it sounds like a NASCAR event. I love it! My wife was not nearly as thrilled. Pissed off would be a good description. She even said something along the lines of “ I bet it cost $500”. I just mumbled something; thank God she never found out how much it really cost!

I did tell her she wouldn’t have to worry about running over her cat; it would be long gone.

I would do it again on a N/A V8, but I might not want to take the heat on a turbo engine. Mike

I have found a used PSE for Cayenne Turbo. Looks decent condition but not sure comes with all the parts. Tips are missing for sure but I don’t mind keeping my stock ones. Anybody has the full parts diagram of the exhaust system?

I guess then you would need to code it in the system which can be done with the Porsche system that my independent has access to.

FWIW, I’ve got a set of PSE tips for sale in the Classifieds if you’re looking for a great price . Here’s the listing and PM if you’re interested: https://rennlist.com/forums/market/1244920
