Default OT: GT driver hobbies when not into cars..

So do any of you knit sweaters in your spare time.. ? Always of interest what other guys and girls get up to when not talking or driving cars...

I spent sunday afternoon building the 1/4 scale boxer flat six with 13 old son who is in a wheelchair with two broken ankles from a crash racing down hill mountain bike....
(Edit ** PS the boxer engine model is worth it. Good fun and bunch of historical info and info regarding the flat six development with porsche. the 13 old learnt lots of simple engine stuff i take for granted growing up having to actually lift the bonnet of my car myself.. not todays plug and play approach to mechanics.)

When not enjoying my cars, I swim laps. I train 5-7 days a week depending upon my schedule . I’m not one of the people you see at the Y who “says” they swim an hour but just float. There’s a competitive group where I live, we shoot for 3-4 miles a day. Without this training I would never fit in my RS buckets!

Billiards, guns, coffee, gym, piano, reading John Grisham, learning Chinese and (most recently) planning for my first newborn arriving in February. Never a dull moment.

I dont go to bars or eat out much since I don’t drink alcohol and I’m Vegan.

I assume once the baby is born and the GT3 is here I will be fully occupied

I spend a considerable amount of time backcountry skiing and snowmobiling every winter. Jackson Hole, Whistler and British Columbia in general are my favorites.

Some pics from a couple seasons ago.

Mt. Bikes, Gunsmithing / Machining, and R/C helicopters here.

Starting to see a trend here already on this thread for mechanical / precision hobbies.

I used to be big into cycling and triathlons, but now with three kids I'm primarily just running 6-7 days a week. I do a lot of hiking in the mountains around my house and during the winter I down hill ski most weekends.

My wife and I used to be big foodies and cooks, but that slowed down a lot with the kids. However we are just starting to get back into it as the kids have gotten older and are actually starting to appreciate good food.

I belong to the old crowd. First, golf, low single digit. Second reading, and I mean a lot. Third, gym three times a week. Fourth, fine dining and travel with spouse. As soon as the temps drop a bit, road bycicle comes out of the garage. I have to admit, though, that there is also some couch potato in me. Love watching golf, tennis, and other spectator sports when played at their highest levels, as well as some shows. Need more hours per day!

Old stuff: currently restoring my 1929 Tudor house, like old land rovers, anything with a vacuum tube.
