Me, I like to do as much underneath as possible...before draining any fluds. Get the belly pan, belts, starter, alternator, A/C compressor and brackets off, drop clutch pack, unbolt bell housing, zip motor mount, ground cable and exhaust bolts out.

Then I start draining fluids. Drain radiator, then loosen one coolant drain plug on block...letting it drip into drain pan over night. If you pull it out...you'll have a mess on your hands. Next day, loosen drain plug on opposite side...letting it drip over night. While all of this dripping is going on underneath, you can be working topside now. Removing the air cleaner housing, top bell housing bolts, fuel lines, power steering pump assembly, electrical harness at 14 pin plug, radiator shroud, fan assembly, radiator and a few other odds and ends.

Then go back underneath and drain oil. Then you have a much nicer engine to deal with on the stand. Nothing worse than spinning an engine around and having fluids dump all over the place.

Good luck, and truth be told...the engine comes out pretty easily.

Brian.

The trick is...pooping your pants before you start. Gets it out of the way and all.

Yeah, might be harder for some...being a mechanic by trade probably helps me out.

Also, your avatar says "me in 2015"...is that the year 2015 or at the time you made post 2015?

Wish I had the skills. Working on this car for me is kinda like realizing you actually need open heart surgery as you are performing an appendectomy on yourself.

And that avatar.... that's exactly how I felt in 2015. Now.... not so much ...
