Default Looking at a '94 968 --PPI results in

Strange... it won't show the full PPI report pic from my phone...

Went out to look at a Boxster today, and found a '94 968 Coupe instead. 108,000 miles.

Looks to be in decent shape overall, but leaks oil near the power steering pump, and I'm pretty sure it could use a new clutch as well. Seems to run strong, but I've never driven a great 968, so I have nothing to compare it to except my 924S and 911. Nearly perfect dash, just one 1/8th inch crack near on of the vents. A bit of carpet discoloration in the rear and wear on the driver's side window ledge. Seats in decent shape, but driver's power seat bottom does not tilt.

Assuming the clutch and the oil leak are the only (or worst) things wrong with this car, what is a reasonable asking amount from a dealer? Above or below 10k? Above or below 15k?

Should I jump on it? I have a PPI scheduled for Wednesday. I missed this car by one day at another dealer... they wholesaled it to this dealer the day after they got it, and this dealer wants $1500 less.

PS: Ignore the dust on the white paint. it's just dust and not crappy paint. Wiped right off, and the paint looks decent underneath. But.. is it normal for the lower front and rear to be slightly different colors than the rest of the body?

Doesn't look bad and that is a great price. the combo of white with grey is somewhat rare with only 31 produced. Post the last 3 digits of the VIN and I'll tell you what it looked like when new. One thing, the wheels aren't correct. Those are the earlier style cup1s which would only be found on an earlier 968. If they are real cup1s they are worth some money. Interior looks pretty nice.

Last few of the VIN are 820235.

On the wheels, they've got some curb rash. How much are Cup1's running?

Could be an M030 car, notice the factory koni ride height adjustable front shocks poking through. Could not see any good shots of brakes

I already looked the car up online, it's got standard brakes so not an M030 car.

Last 7 digits of the VIN for Jeff are: S820235

Three factory options:

TT Partial leather in classic grey
XD4 painted crest center caps
437 Full power 8 way driver's seat

I don't know the car.

First you need to confirm if they are "real" Porsche Cup1s. There are repos out there. It is easy to tell. Look at the valve stem. If you see the raised offset numbers and rim width then you are looking at the real deal. They are trading at $1500 a set now for 7.5s/9s.

Jeff
I'll take a look on the way home, thanks!

Got to assume that price is in very good condition?

They don't look like reproduction cup 1s just from the photos which is a good sign. Copies are pretty easily identifiable.

They do look good.

There are a couple of good pictures of the numbers here:

https://rennlist.com/forums/wheel-an...8-cup-1-a.html

If real, they make the car an even better deal. I would jump on it.

So.. I did see that they're not replicas.
They're 7.5 and.. looked like a 9" under the paint, but the site says it's an 8"

(edit) Dealer verified. They're 9" on the rear.
