Out of curiosity, how many people's 477 941 802 panels have rotted away and no longer keep it's shape, or sag terribly.
This is the panel than screws to the bottom of the fuse block, and extends to the firewall, protecting the wiring behind the block.
Update:
Just before Thanksgiving, I purchased a 12x18 Epilog Laser cutter for my regular work. My old laser was too small to cut these nla parts out.
The material used in this NLA part is something virtually identical to material that I already use in my daily work, It's a bit thicker, but I'm sure I could get the proper thickness.
I can now reproduce most of this part. The bracket might be a challenge... I think they're made of spring steel.
See my new post below.

my car doesn't even have one.

Yes, it's a real part and it does (indeed) cover the wiring rearward of the fuse/relay panel. The material is basically cardboard which deforms over time so most are in marginal condition today. I managed to find a nice one from Parts Heaven a couple years ago; they were fair with the price as I think I paid around $25.00 for it.

But.... today it occurred to me that I can replicate them out of a very similar, but much more durable material than the originals. Vulcanized fiberboard, the same material that many Fender style guitar pickups are made from. Being in that business, I have oodles of it that can be easily laser cut on my machine. The most difficult part would be replicating the bent steel mounting bar and riveting it in place, and making a permanent bend on the side without breaking the material. I think some heat application should make it possible though. There is a slight bend before it reaches the firewall to wedge it in place, too... should be no problem.
I just need to CAD up the pattern and put some material into my laser cutter. But I suck at CAD.
