Funny, but I'm pretty sure the inspiration came from the 997 GT2 wing. But who knows, maybe Porsche got their inspiration from Sally.

Reviving an old thread to hopefully get a little help with my TechArt install.

i am close to finishing the install on my .2 cab, and was hoping I could get a little clarity on a couple items:

1. Third brake light: I believe that I am supposed to reroute the wiring for the high-mounted light to Pin 4 on the main harness in the right rear— do I need to cut the each of the harnesses to tap into the power? Or what exactly am I supposed to do.

2. Module under passenger seat: I haven’t removed the seat yet, but will I be cutting harnesses to connect the TA module?

3. What does the TA module under the seat actually do? (I’m unsure as the dealer programs in the fixed spoiler)

In the meantime, I pulled the fuse for the spoiler motor which leaves me with a working high mounted brake light and no spoiler error when I push the button. Is there any reason not to just leave it like this and not cut anything? Other than only having the high mount brake working and not the one in the spoiler. Any issue with just leaving the fuse pulled?

Thanks in advance

********progress thus far********

Wings don't belong on CABs. Just saying.

Any input on my questions?

I’m not interested in debating aesthetics (or manners..)

We simply verified we had the correct wire for the 3rd brake light and tapped into it. The instructions left a lot to be desired.
Can’t help you on the seat module as it wasn’t installed.
We disconnected the wiring harness and the lift motor. Then had the dealer reprogram. If it works by pulling the fuse without a warning, I’d go with it. When you get it all together, take it out and see if you get a spoiler fault message over 100kph. If so, you’ll need to make a trip to the dealer.

Thanks! yours is on a 991.1, correct? It seems like they made a couple changes to the .2 spoiler including the module under the seat (I think).

I just can’t figure out what the module under the seat is for if I get the dealer to program the fixed spoiler and I splice into the appropriate light

Yup 991.1. I think the module is for the sunroof. Urs being a cab wouldn’t need it.

Just wanted to circle back with the information I received directly (and promptly) from TechArt:

“The module that was included with the Rear Spoiler II that you ordered is to prevent the error message from appearing on your dash that something is obstructing the rear spoiler. For the 991.1 models you would use a PIWIS to program the 911 into Cup mode setting to notify the Porsche that there is a fixed spoiler installed. For the 991.2 models that method doesn't work anymore or works briefly but does not stay memorized by the Porsche so TECHART developed that module.“

So in closing, it looks like there isn’t a PIWIS solution and this module is necessary to avoid the spoiler error.

I can corroborate that the dealer programming does not address the spoiler error (my dealer tried this morning to no avail) - note: Porsche Fairfield has been fantastic in helping me with various items like this, I’m very satisfied with them.

So so it looks like I’ll have to install the module once the car is back from getting PPF.

Hope this helps anyone who may run into this question on a 991.2

Saw one today for the first time in person, on Lava Orange 991.2 Base today. He also had two wide Black stripes on the "hood" and the rear, with sunroof in Black Glass. It looked better than I expected. Those Germans know how to do Porsche accys. His wing was just painted orange, but did not look like an add on.
One thing I noticed is the Techart wing really scoops more intake air than the factory tail end. I asked him if it blocks his rear mirror view, and he said it is not a problem. He can just see the top of the wing in his rear view mirror. It sure looked good on his 911 👍

Any pics? I considered this wing but thought it my stand out as an after market mod... I appreciate your input that it looked more OEM than after market.
