Both of my keys look different than that, but they both pry apart. Inside there is a spring loaded assembly that has a block that holds the key blank in place. The little "pill" for the transponder fits in a bracket, different on each key. Here are a couple of pictures.
That is the correct valet key like mine. I believe the key only fits in one way in the plastic head so that it snaps into the key head. And yes, the little hole with the plug is where the transponder "pill" goes. Pretty simple setup. I think I would get the key cut before putting it all together.
As far as I know, it does everything a regular key does, except for the remote lock/unlock. I guess it is so you don't have to give your expensive Porsche remote key to a valet. But who does that anyway? I've never and ever would let some moron 17 year old valet park my car.

I can't get the section open to put in the transponder pill??
Any ideas apart from taking a jewellery screwdriver to it - which I don't want to do.
I have some tools that resemble the ones a dental hygienist uses that I would use to pull it out if it is just a friction fit cap. Some have pointy ends with hook like shapes that would work well. They were under $30 on Amazon (maybe under $20, I can't recall exactly). They come in handy in the garage.
Use a numbered drill set 61-80 also known as a jewelers drill set, with a pin vise to hold the drill (by hand). Drill a tiny hole in the cap and screw in a jewelers screw/watch screw and pull the cap out. I have seen people mangle the plastic up pretty bad digging around on it. With the drill you're only left with a tiny hole.

Yes, the manufacture didn't think (or hoped) anyone would be replacing just the pill, so they didn't make it easy.
Do you have a pill that's already programmed to the car? If not there is no need to remove it just program the one that's in there.

I have a spare pill from an old key to my car that was missing the internals (apart from the pill) when I bought the car. I now have two full keys and a whole bunch of key parts! I didn't realise there is a pill inside it already, I have a PIWIS but the dealership refused to give me the codes to my car
