Thank you, Gentlemen. It feels good. Already put over 300 miles on the car between the "test drive," PPI, and running around to my insurance agent, etc. I'm smitten.

Anyone use a 40th for HPDEs? Does the full x51 package prevent the oil problems seen in the regular C2s? If that's the case, I could probably talk myself into selling my C2..... or perhaps not.

I got very interested in this car in Atlanta until I realized it is a Tiptronic. One owner, one older accident. Looks complete with all trim, maybe a little ratty. But the price could support a lot of deferred maintenance. FYI

Yea, I'd pass on that one. Totally over priced for a tiptronic that's been wrecked.

Shop was not certified when they did my work. But Karl Troy is a friend of Jake Raby's. I exchanged emails with Jake about his quals. Jake was glowing in his recommendation.

Primarily, Karl gives a damn, and asks a lot from all those around him, and under his roof.

Flat6, I'm in Atlanta. Considering a 996 that I believe will need the business... RMS/IMS. What shop do you recommend if I couldn't book through you all?

I think we may be considering the same car. I talked with a salesman but have been stuck in NC with family and business activities. I don't want to complicate your deal. Will PM.

Yes. I haven't been able to get down to Atlanta and haven't seen the car. If you are pursuing it, I'll back off. No reason making the sales guy think he has competing prospects.
The sales guy confirmed it has one key and owner's manual. He somewhat acknowledged that he was aware of the IMS issue. I didn't mention the 40th anniversary spec and he didn't emphasize that. Price is competitive if it checks out mechanically. I sort of assumed a quick $5-6k of refreshing (including IMS/RMS/clutch, all fluids, and whatever else may have been neglected.
If you choose not to bite on this one, I'd appreciate knowing your observations.
