So I pick up my New to me 2002 C4 Cab on Friday it has the Bose sound but old school, no Blue tooth or aux plug. I went to Best buy and they told me they wont work on 911's because they are too much trouble and told me there were no plug and play options. But the installer did say he had heard of an outfit in the EU or Japan that sold upgraded bose head units. Is this true and if so who? and what are my other options if not (other than going to SoCal and paying $2800 just for labor)?

Reason: spelling
Easiest option is to install a Dension Compact BT unit (allows streaming via BT and a telephone mic) which goes thru an unused radio station. You can also buy another CDR23 (Bose-MOST) unit from Becker Auto Sound with an AUX in plug wired into it, sending yours back as a core. With this you can either run the Dension off of it (with aux-in instead of antenna/radio input) or run your device directly with aux in.
On our old 996 we used a BLAU/8-RCA adapter and hardwired a bluetooth adapter. Worked like a charm and very inexpensive! I'm not sure what head unit you have, our car had a CDR-220. We used a BLAU/8-RCA adapter and BT module like the one below.
It depends which Bose head unit you have. I have a 2002 c4 with a nose as well. My head unit was pre most. Most is what causes most of the complication. So you need to check what pcm you have. PCM 1 you can swap the phone modem for a Bluetooth modem. Are really simple swap. http://www.elektronikidee.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=84&catid=18&lang=en&Itemid= 101
I wanted to keep my car original looking with music streaming. There is some good aftermarket head units now that look quite factory that will give a lot better functionality.
Interesting comment Dan, The guy at Becker Audio in NJ told me they had a plug and play CDR-220 for my 2002 with Bluetooth and USB, which I bought. He did tell me the CD player will no longer work.
"This is a direct replacement and is the OEM radio for 1999-2002 Porsche Boxster / Carrera. The Radio comes with a 1 year parts/labor warranty from the date purchase. Bluetooth steaming module is added internal in the radio and is active on the AUX input mode."
I guess we will know what's what when it arrives next week?

If you have the CRR220 then it's plug and play
I have the Tranzit Blu HF bluetooth unit and I love it. Uses radio frequency, very clean install - and kept my stock radio which i wanted to do. I have the bose sound option on my 03 996 and with the tranzit system it still hits hard.
Download the app, match frequency on your phone once, and enjoy bluetooth for ever. Plus, it comes with a mic that you can use on your sun vizor to talk on the phone hands free. Comes across very clear on the other side

Fortunately, you have the non-MOST based system and so you don't have to deal with the pains of digital I/O. Basically, the bluetooth interface inputs the stereo analog line-level inputs where the CD-changer would normally operate. In other words, it takes the place of the CD changer input on the HU. If you already have a working CDR-220, then all you need is the aux-in adapter. They're cheap on eBay. CD discs can still be played at the HU. But if you buy a turnkey CDR220, more than likely Becker Autosound has rewired it on the component level for simplicity of installation. But I see you've already purchased the unit and so all the best!
