Cargo Management worth it?
For those that have it...do you use it? Practical?
i ask because mine came with it but only the tracks (none of the tools). So I'd have to buy the tool kit. Like $400 from what I can tell. Doubt I'd buy it unless it's really functional. I looked at videos of it and just curious if those who have it find it actually useful.

great question g8tor20 ... I have been looking at the same thing ... only I'd have to have the tracks installed ... but still have been thinking about it .... would love to hear from someone that has it....

I don't have it, but would like to. I suppose it depends on what you carry for it to make a difference. If you carry stuff that won't hold still with the tie downs (e.g. small stuff), then the system would be nice. If you carry stuff that isn't going to slide around, fall over, or is managed by the tie downs, then it's probably not that big of a deal.
I, unfortunately, had to pass on it as I think those rails are safety hazards for dog toes. Since dogs traveling was a big part of the decision and putting a mat down makes the system useless, it was quickly cut from the list.

Stopped by the dealer yesterday to see how much it would be to add and we could not find it for my 2017 trying a couple of different sources -- so guess it is not available post build for my car....

That or just call 1-800-Porsche and inquire. We pay a lot for these, and they've been pretty responsive when I've called.

That doesn't sound right. It's a pretty simple add-on from what I've seen posted in other threads. Might want to check with another dealer to be sure.

Good suggestion, so I called the Porsche number and they could not find anything and then ... interesting enough.. they suggested I call Suncoast Parts ... and no luck there either.... did find it a 2008 Porsche Telequipment catalog so it obviously was available aftermarket at that point ... but guess not anymore.

I'm surprised to not see it listed on the Tequipment web pages.
While looking, however, I came across something listed as "Heat protection panels for rear bicycle carrier" part# MSU 003 236 (which also seems to be part# 955 044 000 86.
Has anyone ever seen/used these?

Here's a thread elsewhere that talks about doing a retrofit:

Here is where I am confused. In the picture below, 13 seems to indicate it comes with the bag (with the strap and hooks) as well as the bar. I can't seem to confirm or deny what #13 includes (with or without the bar).
And when I searched last weekend...I think this was the least expensive I could find the part 13 (https://www.euroautopartshq.com/oem-...ag-95555150400)

Wow, thanks for all the research and the links .... a complete system with the rails, "holders", and carpet is just under $1k with shipping .... a little more than what I would have hoped but probably about what i should expect given they are Porsche parts and the original build price was about 1/2 that .... oh well, it's only money and so the parts on order
Thanks again .... I think

For Overlanding we wanted something a bit more heavy duty than what Porsche provides. Needed to secure a winch, group 31 Aux battery, 50qt electric fridge/freezer, etc. Also wanted a roll bar with heavy duty expanded mesh to prevent gear from coming forward should we roll. Went to a local shop -Cantrells- known for excellent quality track car cages and worked up a design. The winch pins the fridge to one side and the National Luna battery box to the other. For photos of this as well as article links of what we do see:

The 'bag' simply holds the strap posts and the hooks. The stopper bar does not fit in it. It's not really a 'bag' as much as it's a foam-lined semi-rigid nylon covered case. Which has no place in the vehicle to store it.
Personally, I never use the (#14) strap or all of the (#10) hooks. The (#15) stopper is effective 99% of the time. I do keep two of the hooks on-board, stowed wrapped in a cloth with the spare tire.
Were I retrofitting this I'd get just the stopper and whatever it takes to mount the rails, and maybe two hooks if they could be ordered separately.
